This is a good pistol safe. As with any safe, it's not going to keep the bad guys out, it'll just slow them down. And it should keep children out. Of course, it's small and could be easily stolen. The tether, like the safe, won't prevent that, but again, it'll slow them down. Very good quality materials and construction. The interior padding keeps the gun firmly in place so that it doesn't shift around. I prefer the key over the combo, digital, or bio lock. It might not be ideal for a nightstand, but for just securing the gun, it's simple and reliable.

It is well made out of 16 gauge steel . The round key lock , is harder to pick ! The fit and finish is done well. I will not be using it , for a gun, but for cash , credit cards , passports etc, but just when I travel. Some Hotels , I visit , don't have safes in the room. So, this will be good for those places . This box is good to hand over to the clerk at the front desk to be put in the hotel safe . Many hotels, don't let you put items directly into a safe . So, when I hand this steel case over to them, I know , that they won't go through my things and rifle through it. If you just hand them a envelope or a zippered case, they can go through it. It gives me piece of mind . Also, Liberty , is a well known safe company , which makes quality items . Plus, $ 19.99 , makes it a decent bargain .

I had a combination Bulldog box for years. The cable finally pulled out of the crimp connector. This Liberty Safe box has a much more sturdy cable and(!) connecting nodule. I like the 2-layer bottom foam, because I removed the top layer in order to more comfortably accept hefty Full-size Semi-automatics. The key is a little tricky (to me) so far, but that's on me likely.As far as the "bank vault" conversations go, all I need is a child-proof in home, and a 1/2 hour problem for anyone who has broken into my locked-alarmed Jeep. (That's for my 'big gun'.) And my concealable is in my pocket when I get back to my Jeep. I am very happy.

Purchased this Liberty HD-50 safe the same day the Hornady large lockbox arrived. The Hornady is the same in every Dimension but the Liberty is the better choice. The liberty has a better lock, two tier foam bottom inserts and holes drilled into the bottom. Plus the Liberty was $5 cheaper. Both will fit a 4” semi auto like a Glock 19 and spare mag. The Hornady is heavier and looks like it has thicker steel but both claim to be 16ga. For the quality and value buy the Liberty. In the pictures the Hornady is on the left and Liberty on the right.

Perfect for airline travel, and accepted by TSA and most airlines. I love how portable it is, and even use it inside my rangebag. It's easy to lock up your gun (or small valuables) quickly and the foam padding inside will keep everything stationary and secure. Comes with a short cable, if you want to attach it to something inside your truck or car, too.

Nice case, better protection than a normal trigger lock. Overall well made and an excellent value at $19.98.My only quibble is the manufacturer states on their website: "Sturdy Steel Construction (16 ga.)"I mic'd it, and the sides are just outside the lower specification range for 16 guage steel.. Liberty is well known for their quality so I suspect their Chinese vendor is trying to save a few pennies and Liberty's QC didn't pick up on this. A little bit more QA is possibly needed. Hence I only gave it 4-Stars.I purchased from Amazon.com Services, Inc.Bottom line: a first-rate value at the current price.

Nice and strong safe box, good for small gun but no so good for XD 9mm guns, fits but too tie hard to close the lid

Purchased a few months ago to store a few small valuables. I find the size is good. If you need to store larger items then you will have to get a larger vault or a safe. Very happy with it so far. It seems very securely made with heavy duty metal which will make it very hard to pry open. The rear hinge is exposed, but, it appears to be of hardened steel. The case seam (between the upper and the lower part of a closed case) is very thin and overlaps,, so I would think it would be extremely hard to pry to get something between it to open up. Nicely padded inside to help prevent your things moving around within. The case has a plastic coated stainless steel cable to help secure the vault to a fixed object. Comes with 2 keys. External size approx 9.5" long by 6.5" wide by 2" thick. Happy with the purchase and recommended purchase.

I just got it today and it's arguably the best 20$ I spent. Built quality and finishing is great. I also ordered Amazon basics version, which is the exact copy, but prefer overall feel of liberty. Both safes are good but I prefer liberty.
