I really want to love this filter. But it leaks...
I got this spin-down to install between my well and the water softener in my basement. A good spin-down filter is an amazing thing! It knocks out all the sediment and particles in your water flow BEFORE your water softener has to deal with it.I also added a GE GXWH20T Whole House Water Filter after the spin-down. I've used them for years in previous houses and they are awesome! This spin-down even has a rotating ring at the bottom to scrape the mesh and get everything to the bottom of the bowl, and a flush valve at the bottom to blast that junk out! I really wanted to love it. The design is good, and the materials and build quality seems really good. There are multiple mounting options, the main body has 3/4" female and 1" male threads, and there are additional pieces you can add (similar to a union) to ger 3/4" male threads. This is where the problem occurs. In North America, we use a thread system where the threads have a slight taper to them. So as you tighten the connection, the threads wedge together to create a tight seal. This is known as "National Pipe Taper" or NPT for short. This filter states in the description it has "MNPT" and "FNPT" connections. But they aren't! All 3 sets of threads is a straight thread like a machine bolt. So no matter how much you tighten the connections, they won't actually seal! I have cranked down the 3/4" male nipples I threaded into the ends of this fixture to the point where I thought it would break the housing. I still have 2 slow drips, one from each end of the housing of this filter. It's been over a week and I still have a bucket underneath. I took it all apart and used thicker Teflon tape, but still it drips! I'm really frustrated, because this is otherwise a very nice filter!

Hard to seal
Forest of all do not use the garbage Teflon tape that is included. Throw out out and get the blue monster stuff. Even with that I had a hard time getting it to seal up without a show drip. Once I got it water tight, I was very happy with them (cold and hot water lines). I couldn’t believe how much crap was making it part my filter on the line from my well.

Some of the threads are NPT
Some of the other reviews mentioned that the threads were straight instead of tapered. I found this to be both true and false. The filter I received came with removable male adapters with 3/4" MNPT threads. The 1" male and 3/4" female threads on the filter housing itself seem to be straight threads. According to the NPT size chart, the outside diameter of the pipe for 3/4" fittings should be 1.05" and the diameter of the small end of external threads should be 0.97". Those are the measurements I got from the 3/4" male adapters. Straight threads would be 1.05" along the full length of the threads. I was able to get this to seal up with no leaks using Sharkbite 3/4" FNPT to 3/4" PEX fittings, a couple wraps of tape and a dab of paste sealant.

Bad product
Straight thread.....not npt thread. Too small to handle any kind of real sediment problems. Whole house filter looked exactly the same after one month.

Superior quality!
This 50 & 100 Micron Spin Down Sediment Filter by Boltigen is one of the highest quality spin down filters that I have ever used. I ordered this to replace an existing filter on the front end of my home water system. The feature that allows you to scrape the stainless steel mesh without disassembling or turning the main water supply off is a huge savings in terms of time and effort. Just open the bottom valve and turn the base and voila, the mesh is wiped clean and the residue is instantly flushed down the drain. It turns out that the housing assemble is exactly the same size of my original spin down filter, so it is an easy swap out from the old unit to this far-and-away-better new unit! The quality and superior engineering of the overall filter unit and especially the scraping mechanism makes this a no-brainer decision to upgrade from the "non-scraping" model to this wonderful work of plumbing art.Amazingly, it's about the same price as standard (i.e. without the "scrape" feature) spin down filters at the big box stores, so why would you buy a standard when you can get the "Cadillac" of filters for the same basic price?Review for: Boltigen 50 & 100 Micron Reusable Flushable Spin Down Sediment Filter, Whole House Sediment Water Filter for City, Well Water, 1" MNPT + 3/4" FNPT + 3/4"MNPT Pre-Filtration System 2407-008

Does the job but not enough information
The instructions are severely lacking. No indication of what size tubing to use for the drain line. Most filters in this size use 1/4 id tubing but not this unit. And finding adapters to reduce the size has been a challenge so far. Unit works but installing is a problem. And for those who have slow drips, please use at least 10 turns of the teflon tape. I got this tip from other filter systems. Minimum 10 turns, no drips.
