Works with 2013 Mac Pro (cylinder) running Yosemite or El Capitan with SwitchResX software
UPDATE: When I first posted this review, I was using Yosemite. I have since upgraded to El Capitan and upon upgrade had to follow the directions on SwitchResX's website for disabling system integrity protection in order to save my custom profile. I was then able to re-enable system integrity protection without much hassle.I'm using this to successfully send a 3840x2160 60hz signal via my late 2013 Mac Pro with dual AMD Firepro D500 video cards. The normal display settings would not allow me to select 60hz as a refresh rate, but after I installed SwitchResX and created a 4k monitor profile with a 60hz vertical frequency, I was able to simply select the new settings and it works fine. It's a more involved process using El Capitan to set up a custom profile, but it can be done if you look up some of the other reviews here or follow the links on SwitchResX's website.Stereo audio is also working fine. I have not tried sending multichannel audio or Dolby surround (I suspect that would be more difficult) but selecting the TV as my default audio output sends my system audio to the TV. Of course the TV speakers sound terrible compared to my regular speakers, so I don't think I'll ever be doing that, but it's neat to know that it does indeed work and is not garbled as others have reported with Macbooks.I'm also happy to say that there are no issues with putting the computer to sleep and having settings change after waking. There's no reason why it should be that way, but hey, sometimes computers do weird things with custom settings when they go to sleep. For the HDMI cable, I'm using this cable: Ultra Clarity 25ft HDMI 2.0 Cable 4k Ultra HD (25 feet) Supports Ethernet, High Speed 18Gbps, 3D, and Audio Return (ARC) - Braided Sleeve - Gold Plated Connectors

Works for the Late 2013 MBP
I'm running a Late 2013 MacBook Pro 15" on Catalina. The one with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB andIntel Iris Pro 1536 MB. Out of the box this didn't give me any resolutions that I didn't already have via HDMI. I had to download the app SwitchResX and create custom resolutions.Unscaled/native, it accepted 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz with no problem. Natively, it even accepted 4096 x 2160 up to 57Hz. It would accept 57Hz, but not 57.5Hz. Weird. Scaled, SwitchResX goes all the way up to an absurd 6720 x 3780 at 60Hz. The Late 2013 MBP is limited to 4K @ 30Hz on HDMI only.It will run 4k @ 60Hz natively over DisplayPort. You just have to have an active mini DisplayPort (1.2) adapter/cable to DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0 to make 4k @ 60Hz work. But I went ahead and got a step-up from that. I can only confirm that the Club 3D CAC-1180 Mini DisplayPort (1.4) to HDMI 2.0B HDR adapter version works, as that's what I got.I can't speak for the other versions. Now my external display is just as responsive as my MBP display. No lag at all. I had to go into my TV settings and change the HDMI signal format from standard format to enhanced format. "Display High-Quality HDMI signals. Select the enhanced option only if your device supports High-Quality HDMI formats such as: 4k 60p 4:2:0 10 bit, 4:4:4, 4:2:2."I also had to go into my screen aspect ratio settings and change the picture size from normal to Full 2 to get the full native 4096 x 2160 resolution. Settings for your TV or monitor will vary. Also, I have to occasionally change my picture mode from Game to Cinema and back to Game to remove the TV processing lag.

4k UHD Video at 60hz, happy customer
I bought this when it first became available a few years ago & still works great! I wanted it to set-up an ultimate web developer home office with 4k at 60 Hz video from my Lenovo Thinkpad W530's Mini DisplayPort to a 4k UHD 42" Samsung TV! YES, it's glorious & can't imagine developing with less than 4k or a much smaller screen. With 4k TV's back then costing a fraction of the cost of much smaller ultra high def monitors, it was a no brainer. It did take a lot of online research & a few hours initially to figure out how to to get Windows 7 to go 60hz instead of dreadful standard 30hz for 4k, but that was before anyone was even thinking about doing this. If you have the tech savvy & patience, it is WORTH it!1) Search Club 3d 4k at 60hz with your computer specs to find if your machine has correct graphics card & OBVIOUSLY DisplayPort before purchase of this particular version2) above search should yield some how to set-up if compatible.3) Note OBVIOUSLY, you must have a 4k HDMI cable for TV to connect to this Club 3D adapter4) Note: the only complaint is the Club 3D adapter is SHORT 6" end to end with 3" flexibility. To ensure plenty of room from UHD TV or UHD monitor to laptop, measure max length needed & buy the HDMI cable based upon that length.I'm very happy with this purchase & recommend especially since Club 3D was the VERY first to make an adapter for this purpose so their experience creates a well designed product. Notice MOST other inferior brands are only capable of 30hz, which you will NOT be happy.

Works for 3840x2160 at 60HZ 4:4:4 Chroma
It's a tad more expensive than other similar adapters, but not unreasonably so. i.e. difference between active and passive dual link dvi adapters to DP. This one works for driving 4K at 60Hz at 4:4:4 Chroma so it's understandable. I tried other adapters and couldn't get them to work at 60Hz or 4:4:4 chroma so I'm really happy this one does it.I'm using a Power Color 7950 to drive a Samsung UN40NU7100. The HDMI powers on my GPU are too old to be able to do 60hz at 4K, but the minidp does so this was the adapter I needed.Edit: I'm still happy with this, but I should point out that you may need to go into the TV's settings to define what the HDMI input is since the TV isn't able to identify the PC plugged in that is providing the output when a dp to minidp adapter is used compared to a simple hdmi cable. I didn't realize this initially so it's possible the other adapter I bought could have worked, but this isn't much more and is far better reviewed.

Finally - 1440p / 75HZ on my Acer ET2 (macbook pro mid 2012)
I've tried so many miniDP-DP cables and I couldn't get 75HZ on my 1440p monitor using a mid 2012 macbook pro (non retina). I bought this Club3D (CAC-2170 according to the sticker) miniDp to HDMI converter and finally nailed it! The build quality is good it doesn't look cheap and upon first boot it worked like a charm! I shouldn't have wasted money trying other cables and should of bought this instead. I wish I had a 4K monitor but I'm sure this will work just fine with those too!

Funktioniert super :)
