book has strengths and weaknesses.

This was a very enlightening book about the TCO Low Zetas. I've learned so much more about them after reading this book & never knew they were involved with oil. I always thought it was just drugs. I disagree with the author that Mexico is experiencing a Modern Civil War. It is a war against drugs and the eff against oil. There is nothing political about this war for it to be considered a "Modern Civil War." I also no longer trust our gas industries since most of them take advantages of stolen natural resources. It's unfortunate that has & oil are needed to survive. But anyway, excellent overall book. It's more like academic research and a Political Science paper. As a Political Science major, I can see myself doing similar research & writing like this, but no where near as good and as professionals this author can. The research was well do one and they took advantage of every resource they could for limited information on this [modern] topic. Well done!

Very informative read with an interesting approach to look at LZ as a structured enterprise that leverages common business practices to drive it's agenda. As with many business related books, the statistics and many cross references to other people's work makes it at times a rather dry lecture, yet the insights are quiet interesting .

Origninal and well argued.

Book contains good information. Felt like I was reading a graduate thesis rather than a book. Very dry and boring.
