The perfect commuting light and more
Ok so I have a few quality lights and was a little sceptical about the cat eye brand (I have used lezyne, magic shine, bike Ray, and a few more). I needn't have been. Firstly, yes it takes a long time to charge over usb but then it has a large 6600mamp battery. Just stick it on overnight and forget about it.My commute is a mixture of unit country roads, dirt tracks and cycle paths. I cycle 40 minutes each way, so one hour twenty minutes per day. I use the medium setting for the unlit sections and the off road bits. There is no need for high mode; medium lights up a good 200m easily. On cycle paths and lit roads the low setting is perfect. The low battery warning light has come on after 5 days of this commute. My magic shine 880u doesn't last this long and it has the same battery size and doesn't seem any brighter to my eyes.So pretty much ideal as commuting light as it clips on or off it's mount in seconds and is perfectly stable once clipped in.Recommended.

Fantastic, well worth the money
I cycle 17 miles home from work, much of the way along very quiet and very dark country roads. Over the last few years I used a 300 lumen cateye light and I have been used to limiting my speed at night as I can't see too far ahead. I upgraded to this new light as the battery was staring to fail on the old light and and this new light has been amazing!! I never need to use it on full even in the pitch black, I think full setting is probably only necessary off road. On medium setting I'm quite happy whizzing down hill at over 30 mph as I can comfortably see far enough ahead and cars don't seem to get upset by the light on medium (they flash you when you have the light set on full which is amazing on a bike light!) The battery life is fantastic lasting me most of the week on medium without needing a recharge, you get ample warning when the battery is getting low. I would definitely recommend.

FAILED just out of guarantee period.
This purchase was made from Amazon seller: OutdoorHero. The Cateye Volt 1200 Power Shot Front Light unit worked well for about 13 months after purchase. I have been impressed with the light output. However in the last few weeks it has become more and more problematic to turn on the light. I have needed to hold the on/off button in various different positions to get it to turn on.Yesterday evening it stopped working completely and now I cannot get it to turn on at all, no matter which way I push and hold the on/off button. It is fully charged, yet it will not turn on. I feel annoyed because I paid a premium price for a supposedly premium product and it has failed me not long after the 12 months guarantee has ended. I feel cheated and let down and it is for those reasons that I would not recommend this product for long term use as, in my opinion, it is not fit for purpose.

This was a great light whilst it lasted
This was a great light whilst it lasted. fits easily, recharges quickly and has an output appropriate to seeing as well as being seen.Unfortunately I stored it away, in a canvas bag, in a cupboard, for seven months. I returned, went to get the light out to charge it and use it only to find it encrusted with white crystals as if the battery had leaked and the light isn't working any more. I would have expected this item to have survived this simple act at least.I am yet to contact Cateye and will update when I can

Last light I will need
This was sent quickly and as promised simple to set up and to use. I have used it in total darkness on the local country road and works better than my cars light on full beams. So long as the battery lasts this is the only bike light that I will ever need.Battery life seems pretty solid I have been out on two two hour sessions and it is still going strong.

This has two really good plus points - and the insane brightness isn't even my favourite oneIt's not just bright, but the beam pattern covers almost everything you can see ahead like a car on full beamEven on it's dimmest setting you can see everywhere, none of the 'small round blob of light' I used to put up withNo more being slapped in the face by low tree branches for me :-)

Great light - very powerful
Great light, very powerful and perfect for when I am cycling along unlit roads, which I do every day. If anything I need to use a lower setting as it is that bright I do sometimes get cars flashing headlights thinking I'm on motorbike! Well worth the money

Great quality bike light with loads of lighting for dark ...
Great quality bike light with loads of lighting for dark roads ,battery life is great too and light enough to be used as a hand torch for running or jobs outside in the dark .The supplied bracket for fixing to the handle bar does the job well with a safety release latch to stop the light coming out when on bumpy ground ,The only issue is switching between strobe and flash modes which can be a bit fiddly, all in all very good
