First thing you'll notice when you unroll this placemat from its box is that it just looks a lot better than the Amazon photos. I don't know if it's lighting or image compression or what, but Chase just stands out much clearer and sharper in real life than in the photos, turning this from what I thought was a pretty drab placemat into one that stands out despite its lack of colors. More colors could help appeal to kids, but there's an elegant simplicity that comes from the monotone color that also helps draw your eye to the doggy details and makes me appreciate it more than I thought I would. It's also nice that Chase is off to the side, so that it's easy to put plates and bowls in the middle without covering up any of the design.Other pros: It has a shallow rim around the edge. Not enough to stop anything with velocity or really big spills, but still, it's a nice little nudge that helps keep messes on the placemat rather than falling off the sides. It's also very soft and smooth without being slippery... just a very nice feel to it overall.Cons: The flip side of its nice texture is a bit less traction and a bit more floppiness than I'd expect. It's not going to just slip off the table or anything like that, but If you're looking for a placemat that firmly sticks where you place it without budging, this probably isn't the one for you. And hand washing it is very awkward because of how floppy it is... they claim it's dishwasher safe, but so far I've been afraid to try that. And of course, it's not cheap. You could probably get 2-3 cheaper placemats for the cost of this one, but if you put them side by side, I suspect it'll be obvious that this is the superior product.At the end of the day, should you pay the extra cost for a nicer placemat? Well, that's up to you! I tend towards the thrifty side and would've said "no". However, thanks to the Vine program I was able to get this without paying, and I see better value in this than I thought I would. So is it worth paying extra for the quality? I'd still lean towards "no", but it IS worth paying extra to make your kids happier, and so if my daughter really wanted a paw patrol placemat, I wouldn't hesitate to splurge on this one.Updated Oct 14 2023: I just wanted to add that we initially had this on a wooden desk, and for whatever reason, the traction was just mediocre. But when we moved my daughter to the kitchen table, which has a glossy varnish on it, it gained an adhesive quality which was lacking on the smooth but unvarnished desk. So I would think for the majority of kitchen tables out there, this will have excellent traction and virtually no chance of slipping or sliding.

The Paw Patrol Silicone mat is a great addition to the high chair or table if you want to help limit the mess made by your children. It is perfect to use as a place mat for meal time or a mat for crafts so paint, markers, crayons, glue doesn't get on the table. Our son loved seeing rubble on it as he is a huge Paw Patrol fan.

I was looking for a mat for our toddler grandson who is moving from high chair to table/booster seat. He changes his mind every time he eats here and because I'm an indulgent Nana, I let him choose. But that meant I needed a table protector that didn't slide around like a placemat does. It's great for a restaurant as well, or a surface that might not be clean enough. I didn't have my "good" glasses on when I came upon this Lalo product and only saw the outline shapes and thought they were selling mats shaped like Iowa and Massachusetts (without the Cape). Doh. This PAW Patrol mat is just what I wanted, and it's a hit with our little guy. Doesn't slip around and even better, it's almost as large as the surface of the highchair tray. My only star-reductions are for price (pricey) and maintenance. Yes, you can put it in the dishwasher, but it takes up space, you can roll it but the water won't get inside, it blocks items, and other silicone products (including Lalo) have gotten ashy or dusty looking after several washes. So, I wash them by hand. But I have that luxury of time, many don't. Overall, a very good product though, and so are the Lalo cups and bowls I also purchased.
