A masterpiece that without a doubt is a top 5 of 2018!
OMG !!!! I do not have enough words to describe the perfection and exquisiteness of this story, Mrs. Ryan gives us a masterpiece that without a doubt is one of my favorites this year. A top 5 of 2018!The author continues to amaze me with her magical writing, complex characters and plot, which always makes us reflect on life. The story, oh God, enveloped my soul, trapped my heart and consumed me, made me addicted to every word that quickened my heart and stopped my breathing. As always with the stories of this author, I loved the characters, so real, with all their imperfections and weaknesses, but at the same time that, makes them so perfect. Jared and Banner are so unique characters. Their sex scenes, wow, completely to another level, together are lava burning that almost melted my Kindle with its heat, explosive, sexy, and with so much chemistry, one and a thousand times their dialogues caused me goosebumps and a swarm of butterflies in my stomach. And their love story ** sighs ** brought me tears, smiles, and many blushes, it's so poetic and inspiring, Gahhhh !!!! They warmed my heart!Jared, OMFG !!! He is a hero like few others, but he caught me from his first dialogue, he is a determined, ruthless character, who knows very well what he wants and struggles to achieve it, not stopping to think about the consequences of his actions or worrying about others. I loved his determination to get Banner back, even though some of his actions were not the most honorable, but he earned my respect with all the love he showed towards Banner. Besides that, logically he is SEXY like hell, he made me fall on my knees for him.But from whom I fell completely in love, and became one of my top 5 heroines of all time was Banner, God, as I loved her. I saw myself so reflected and I felt so identified with her, she is one of those heroines that speaks to your heart, she is real, determined, strong, brave, hardworking, successful, intelligent, that despite her insecurities she manages to get ahead, a heroine as few, and also Latin ****yesss insert shout of emotion here, I loved the references to her cultural heritage ****, but besides, she is a sensitive character who faces a world dominated by ruthless men, she is a warrior with a big heart. Her internal struggles and battles to achieve her goals were incomparable, and the best thing of all is that she is always guided by what her heart dictates. As in all of Mrs. Ryan's stories, there are teachings that make it a story that you should definitely read, it makes you think, it makes you change your thinking in certain situations that arise. It's a real story with real characters that had me on the edge of the seat.As always, Kennedy Ryan is a top-five author for me, with her poetic writing she always gives us real stories, hot characters, exquisite prose and epic and unique love stories. This is definitely a must read for all the fans of Mrs. Ryan and for those who like a good romance like me.

I’m Shook!
Wow, what a fantastically, poignant, beautiful, painful read. This is a relatively new to me author, only my 2nd or 3rd book by her but boy oh boy was it a banger!I loved both Jared and Banner! He was a sexy popular hustler in college who literally got any girl he wanted and that wasn't even his main drive in school.Nope, Jared's passion was power. He wanted to be THE sports agent of his time and didn't allow anyone to get on his way. On the climb he met other powerful men in a secret society who helped open doors for each other in a huge network around the world. His initial job was so disgusting that he refused and dropped out of the running to be able to join. He did his own thing but ended up in trouble anyway. He also had what he thought was a secret crush on Banner even though he was dating a girl who looked like a pörn star I guess. He was attracted to Banners mind and felt her drive and hard work were only comparable to his own. Then there is Banner herself. A spicy Latina woman who only wanted to be the best sports agent herself! She was overweight and VERY self conscious. After being hurt, she kept people at an arms length and never let anyone one in. The 1st to go to college in her family, she took her studies seriously and kept on track.Randomly enough, her and Jared became fast friends in one of their mutual classes and since she felt she'd never have a shot with someone so gorgeous Banner was able to be herself and just be friends with Jared. Not realizing he too had a secret burning torch for her! We take a journev of discover but also a lot of pain. I did the read and listen and just happened to be listening toward the end when something devastating happens and immediately became to bawl my eyes out. I was set on a rom-com at best (& I did laugh a lot so it WAS a true thought but) that part that happens tried to break me. I shed a few tears and for some reason, wasn't ready for it.Teddy Hamilton and Seraphina brought it! Both helped bring the story to life and neither "overplayed" their role/narration and that was appreciated. All in all another banger that I just fell in love with. This book had it all and those are my favorite kind. Not dark, zero abuse and an HEA?! Yeah, a great break from the norm and a story that will stay with me for awhile.

My Thoughts...
I was afraid to continue this series and it has taken me awhile to read the 2nd book because the first book destroyed me.This book was a fantastic ride.I'm not a huge fan of the second chance trope however block shot was great. The two main characters were everything and I love Jared's attitude of "I know who I am and I don't care".Also, loved the growth in confidence from Banner. Words are harsh and have an everlasting impression on who we are.

5 Million amazing wonderful heartwarming stars
“But the daughter of a lion is still a lion...” that is Banner to the bone and Jared knew it early on! It is one of the quotes that will probably stuck with me forever. That’s what Kennedy Ryan does - she gives the reader stories that are so much more than just a simple romance book. She tackles topics that are so real, that touch you so deeply, that you can relate to so much.Banner is and always have been a “double-digit girl in a single-digit world”. The way she was and is dealing with all the insecurities and doubts, is something I could absolutely relate to. It is one thing that make me fall in love with her right from the beginning. But I also admire her strength, her drive, her passion and her heart to achieve what she wants even when others are doubting her. Those are the same character traits that attracted Jared right from the beginning and made him fall for her even more. He always saw so much more than just her outer appearance. He is just as driven and a hard one to deal with. Right from the beginning he claims himself to be selfish and always gets what he wants whatever it takes. Playing dirty including. But it’s also something that makes you fall for him hard, because the way he tries to persuade Banner to give him a second chance? SWOON!These two have a history and I loved that we got to see it in a straight timeline with a few flashbacks to the important stages. The characters are never wavering from their true nature, just developing over time and mature just as is to be expected when growing up to become adults. It is their story that needs to be told the way it is. You can’t deny the chemistry between these two. You can’t ignore those heat of moments and the reactions resulting from those.Block Shot is so well written and thoughtfully composed. It has the right amount of romance, thoughtfulness, heat, anxiety, heartbreak and credibility. I was emotionally invested from the first to the last word. From feeling so close to Banner because I could relate to her insecurities, to wanting to bump a pillow because there’s no Jared around here, to like and dislike secondary characters and swooning again over Iris and August.Kennedy Ryan just has this wonderful amazing talent to write, I can’t get enough of and just want to read the next book of hers. Block Shot is definitely one of my favorite reads of 2018!

I absolutely loved this character driven, romantic, SECOND CHANCE love story
Kennedy Ryan never fails to astonish me with her writing prowess. I absolutely loved this character driven, romantic, SECOND CHANCE love story and the characters whom take centre stage. Banner Morales and Jared Foster were firm friends until the devastating day they are not and it is from this point that the love story takes flight in full romantic alpha male style in the formidable world of NBA. Block Shot is the second story in the Hoops series but can most definitely be read and thoroughly enjoyed as a standalone. It effortlessly flows toggling between the first-person perspective of Jared and Banner. It made my reading heart so very happy. I smiled throughout so much of the narrative, highlighted huge sections that made me swoon with feels. It definitely shows the lighter side of Kennedy Ryan’s writing style but, even so, complex emotions are depicted and develop at the perfect pace through the narrative. The conflict of emotion within the character’s thoughts teamed with the authors compelling storytelling style made me shed emotional tears. The pivotal part August (the male protagonist from, ‘Long Shot,’ the first Hoops novel) plays in Jared’s thought process is simply beautiful and heart-warming, I loved his input. Readers who have experienced, 'Long Shot,' will adore this aspect and those that haven’t, well it matters not one bit but it will make you see what a great guy August is and compel you to dash to his story.I felt the intense attraction between Banner and Jared who depict a relationship with growth and convincing transitions within the story timeline. Banner and Jared have both reached the pinnacle of their careers as sports agents for the elite of the basketball world. Jared wants to rule the world, he’s arrogant, powerful, sexy as anything, and knows exactly what he wants and I loved seeing him execute his desires. He made me laugh and swoon and sigh. There is something very sexy about a man who finds a woman he loves to distraction and puts her at the heart of his world, despite his alpha tendencies. Banner is the softer side of the story. Kindness and light. Strong and resilient. I love her so much and respected all the decisions she found herself having to make as the plotline thickened.Every time Kennedy Ryan presents readers with a novel she gives something different in terms of character and plot. She keeps things fresh, organic and unique. Banner is a smart, super intelligent woman with inner strength, she has to be to succeed in her chosen career, but keeping it real, as always, Kennedy shows how even the strongest of women can have insecurities, vulnerabilities that can shape their thoughts feelings and behaviours and it is the execution of these aspects that made me warm to her so very much, especially in the early stages of the novel. This ensured that I rooted for her all the way through, felt her pain, her emotional turmoil and her passion. Her struggles resonated with me, like they will with so many other women who feel some kind of imperfection but have the capacity to overcome these feelings with unconditional and resounding love.Kennedy Ryan takes you deep into the story, ensnares your heart with her characters and their emotions, each time fooling me into a new favourite, when in reality everything she writes is exceptional and unique and, in my top, top reads. The links made within the narrative of this novel are stunning. Subtle reminders of early happenings in the story, of experiences and thoughts linked back to later in the prose evoking strong feelings and emotion. There are moments that touched me deeply because of the way she weaves her prose, layering the nuances of her characters and their story, developing both convincingly. The story made me feel and hope and long, and will be one of my forever favourites.
