Wish there were more diagrams.
There are lots of times I wish there were just a few simple diagrams to help clarify the written instructions. I’m new to quilting, and thought this book would help me get started quilting on my home machine. I opted for this book because I have a small home machine, and I know I won’t be able to quilt large projects in one go. I think this book expects me to already have some quilting knowledge. I can follow the intent and principles in the book, but I don’t necessarily feel confident in my interpretation. Although having said that, I realize that many of the steps of the instructions are likely to make more sense when I am actually performing the tasks with a project in my hands. I look forwyto the adventure.

Never worry about using your regular machine to quilt again!!
With all the options outlined in this book, I was able to machine quilt a queen size quilt for my bed, with my vintage Singer 301 machine, no problem! I used the "low fat quilting" method, with the tape as recommended and it was a piece of cake! Thank you.

Learning something new to you!
I have only been quilting for about 3 years and have done all sizes of quilts on a regular machine. There are techniques that help when doing this but it is definitely not easy. Machine quilting in sections is a blessing to my arms and upper body no more pushing whole quilts through a regular machine!!!! I would recommend this book.

Far too quilt pattern intense...
I got very little from this book that I did not already know. Had the "look inside" feature been applied to the product page, I would not have wasted my money.

Considered a classic
Read this book from cover to cover. This quilting book is considered a classic. It is especially helpful for those folks not able or willing to pay someone else to finish the quilting on larger bed quilts. Especially helpful were the sections that identified ways to perform the quilting process on quilt tops that have already been finished. Options are provided for quilt as you sew mechanisms as well as ways to pre-plan the quilting process in order to complete that process without a longarm quilting machine. Very worth while reference for all quilters on limited budgets.

Quilting made easy
This is a must-have for any quilter who wants to make a quilt from start to finish - and not incur the not inconsiderable cost of professional quilting. The daunting task of trying to fit your bulky quilt sandwich through that all too small space in your machine for anything other than ditch stitching can now be a thing of the past. The Marti Michell method enables one to break the project down into easily manageable sizes. The centre square is sandwiched with batting and backing fabric, with the batting cut to a few inches larger than the square. This can then be quilted easily as the rest of the quilt is, at this stage, just the pieced top and can be scrunched or rolled into a size that will fit through your machine arch. Using Marti's method, other sections and borders are added on incrementally. When you come to the final section (on the outside of the quilt) you just make sure that the bulky, previously quilted sections are to the left of the needle. The cost of this book is reasonable and is money well spent. It now takes pride of place within easy reach of my sewing machine.

How to quilt large quilts in SECTIONS .
I needed instructions how to quilt a large quilt in sections on a home sewing machine , this is NOT!!!!!!!! the book to buy instruction are not clear, it seem to be more about patch work quilting than how to quilt a large quilt in sections. I quest some things you will need to work out on your own. At lease this is what worked for me . Lesson learned.

BEST OF THE BEST
This is the second one of this book I have bought. First I gave away after reading it to a friend. Decided right off, that was one book worth buying a 2nd copy of!Wrestling with a queen size quilt on a home sewing machine is like an alligator in your bathtub!!!Michelle shows you how to actually make a quilt - all three layers -- in sections, quilt each section and attached them all together to make the whole quilt. AMAZINGLY THIS IS NOT QUILT-AS-YOU-GO!! And she has a photo in the book of a Mid-1800 hand quilted quilt done in SECTIONS!Honestly, one of the very best quilt books I have, and used.
