After the heatwave last year I wanted a better fan. One that cools ya down. These floor fans are very powerful and best fan I've brought. Do recommend

I needed a new fan for my bedroom as the 12 inch one I previously had wasn't quite pulling its weight in the heat. I decided to go for a bigger, faster, more powerful fan and eventually settled with this one and let me tell you I have no regrets!I'll go over the good stuff to begin with. Firstly, it comes ready-assembled and you can use it straight from out the box - simply take it out, plug it into the socket and you're away. Second, it blasts air like I've never seen before. I've heard people describe it as a wind tunnel and that really is an accurate description. The amount of air it blasts out on the highest setting is insane! You can be 5+ meters or so away and still feel like you're getting a gale-force wind. Even if the temperature in the room is hot and humid, the rush of air against the skin definitely creates a cooling sensation. And if you don't like the full-on blast at yourself the fan pivots on the horizontal axis so you can point it straight up and the air will move quickly around the room creating a gentle breeze which is also satisfying.People say the fan is "too noisy" but you can't expect something that moves this much air to be silent - it's just not realistic. For those wondering, the noise is a low pitch buzzing/propeller-sounding noise which although may become a problem when the TV is on low volume, it is not a problem that can't be overcome by turning said TV up. The noise whilst noticeable has never troubled me anyway.Only down-side I'd say is that there is very little difference between the three speed settings. You seem to either get; high, higher or highest in terms of air flow. So if you are interested just beware that there isn't really a 'low' option so to speak.Hope this helps :)

Absolutely brilliant

Giving this 4 stars because although its extremely powerful, its also quite impractical,its quite large and on the lowest setting the noise level is still higher than I would like for something thats within the same room as you,the RPM of the lowest switch should have been the highest level switch, so the RPM can be lowered enough to drop the noise levelsto acceptable level. I am not sure what the market is for this fan as the only thing I can see it being useful for is forcing air into a room from outdoors.The cable seems to be around 2 metres long, which I would suggest wont be enough for some situations, another 0.5 metre would be useful and possibly a cable management / wrapping system.

Effective but very noisy

I love this fan! I was firstly lured by its retro look and by the fact that I wouldn't have to assemble it ( just plug in and it's good to go) I don't know much about electronics so I just wanted something that would look cool, and would relieve the misery I have gone through during the last 2 heat-waves. It arrived quickly and it didn't disappoint. Firstly, its sturdier than I imagined and very glossy and classy looking.. Secondly, and most importantly, it works beyond my expectation. SUPER strong cool air!!! I am mighty pleased with my purchase and am kicking myself for not buying a fan sooner. I am going to buy another one now for my bedroom. A really fair price for a nice product.

I received this fan today. The positives are that it feels like it was built to withstand a nuclear blast without being heavy. It is also by far the most powerful fan or its size I've ever come across. However, I am having to return it within minutes of getting it out of the box due to one reason alone; its far too noisy to use in the bedroom which I was wanting to do with the current heatwave. It sounds like there's an aircraft in the room with me. This is fine to use during the day but not at night in my opinion. However, I must say that despite this, if it were to be used during the day or during a party or something else, then this is one of the best fans on the market at its price point.
