These small zip lock bags come packed neatly in a larger zip lock bag so, even though there are 500 bags here, they store without a mess. They are a decent thickness and feel slightly thicker than a typical sandwich bag that I pack the kids' lunches in.Each bag has a usable space of about 3" wide and 2 1/2" tall making them the perfect size to pack the small pieces of craft kits we put together for scouts. They will fit quite a few beads or screws, or some embroidery floss and a needle and still close tightly.I really appreciate that they are easy to open (even for the smaller kids) because the very tops (above the zip lock) are ribbed horizontally so the two pieces don't stick together.Although they were designed to hold pills, I can see myself using these bags to hold pairs of earrings or perhaps a necklace when traveling so I don't have to sort through a big mess to find the pieces I want.The matte white printed-on label in the front has plenty of space to write directions or to note contents. I used a gel pen to write on the sample in my photo and it wrote smoothly with no smearing after I gave it a minute to dry.
