This shoe / sandal is just so comfortable. I've had my pair for a couple of years now and still going strong!

They are well made and reasonably comfortable. No matter the size they occupy a significant footprint on the ground. They take a while to get used to and are not super super comfortable. I wear them all the time but if going on a city break I wouldn't wear them for a days walking around unlike the crocs they replaced , which although hideous to look at were extremely comfortable. In time these sandles may become the same but not yet.

I followed the online instructions for size and as recommended went one size up on what I’d usually have. They are a little to large, but adding a couple of extra holes to the strap helps tighten them up a bit better. Take care on stairs as they slip off feet a little too easily. Recommended.

I measure 5 1/2 C in a Clarks shoe shop, no swellings, lumps, bumps or bunions. However, I have a shallow foot - like a duck!The first pair of Birkis that I ordered were sandals and the 38M fits very well with the straps tightened to allow for the shallow depth of my foot but one toe is just touching the raised edge.I ordered the clogs in order to have something more suitable for the winter with socks. As I am a half size normally, it was difficult to decide which size to go for, 38 or 39. I tried the 38 Medium but it was so deep from top to sole that it fell off, I was able to keep it on my foot if I wore a loop pile walking sock. I re-ordered a size 39 Narrow thinking that it would give that slight bit of extra length For the toe but might be slightly smaller fitting. I kept these. I wear them with hand knitted 4 ply socks. They have been worn daily with very little sign of wear and will last a long time. No problems with keeping them on my feet but a loop pile walking sock is too much for them.

I always like Birkenstock, had a pair of slippers years ago but that was the only pair cuz, obviously, they are not the cheapest shoes.I bought this Boston pair to wear at home because for me, Birkenstock's material isn't too hot during warm days, and when it's really cold, I can just add socks. My feet sweat a lot, I get foot odor quite easily but not when I'm wearing Birkenstock. That's another reason I bought them. And I can also wear them to my garden (or the supermarket near us) w/o changing shoes, I know I am lazy, but I think that's what's Birkenstock is for! Considering how many hours I wear them everyday, they are actually quite reasonable price!Before I placed the order, I read other customer's review and took the advice to order 1 size down my usual size and they fit perfectly! Maybe that's something all customers need to consider before you order. Either try them on at shops, or just very carefully measure your feet width and length. Hope you'll love them as much as I do!UPDATE: 5/1/2015 love them! wear them everyday at home and still going strong. Very little foot odor.

OK but a bit hard work to wear for the first few days. Slowly getting more comfy. In all other respects met expectations

Wonderful clogs.I bought the Arizona sandals for our holidays and then bought a pair of these for less sunny climes as soon as we got back.Both pairs are probably the most comfortable things I have ever worn on my feet!Buying a smaller size than you normally would is certainly not necessarily a good idea, many reviewers recommend it. But I bought my usual size and that was perfect.The width is an issue though and the narrow ones don't give much room for feet to move.I have quite narrow feet but I sent them back and got the normal width.Perfect!

Now retired I spend much more time at home wearing house shoes, so it makes sense to buy footwear that are supportive and bombproof. These are both. Very comfortable for slightly arthritic feet, well insulating cork soles for cold floors, suitable for popping outside for firewood, herbs whatever, and cooking spills just wipe off (provided you wax them occasionally). Should last years, but will buy again when necessary.One word of caution .... the sizing system is a nightmare and the first pair went back (more expense!). Your best bet is to put your foot on a sheet of paper mark toes and heel, measure in millimetres and choose the size that matches your measurements.
