Q: Will this work for pet chickens ( Christmas present)?

Interesting question... well the piano keys are plastic, so I would think their beaks might chip them over time, and the xylophone part has those big knobs on each side holding them down... I'm really not sure if they would be in the way of the chickens. It's a nice little piano/xylophone combination though, that all of my granddaughters enjoy (ages 1 - 7). Perhaps you could just try it for your chickens and give it to a child if it doesn't work out for them. However, if it DOES work out... please post a video!

Q: What age is this toy recommended for? want to purchase for a 1 year old.

I think as long as the child is that curious stage of touching everything they see this toy is great. Its the only "real" music toy I could find. My 1 year old niece loves it.
