The description says it is for 1/4 and 5/16 stems. I have the 1/4" stem so I can't test it on the larger stem, but this one works for me...first time and every time.When I moved into my new home, the previous owners took the gas key with them. Without the key, the pilot was going to stay on all summer and that small flame didn't need to be adding heat to my house in this summer of extreme heat.I figured a replacement key should be a buck or two. I was surprised that a simple square head key was selling for up to $15-25. Then I found this one for half that price.I had the option of a short one, the 6" one, or the obscenely long one. I figured I didn't want to crawl on the floor every time I wanted to turn on the gas and that I didn't want to climb a ladder. That left me with the mama bear, middle-sized key...about 6" long. Yeah, I have to bend over to do the deed, but I can do it without getting down on my old, creaky knees.As a bonus, the key has a very small hole in it so I can hang it on a very small gauge nail.The only downside is that it is very bright and shiny copper. I'd like it to have some rustic patina, but maybe that will come with time.

What's the best thing one can say about a valve key? It works! This one works. The extra length and dual sizes take a little getting used to. I like the fact that it is longer and shinier than the one that i can't fined. Makes it easier to see and harder to get lost.

I didn't know the size of the key needed to work the valve of my gas fireplace. Still don't because this fit and works perfectly. It looks exactly as it appears in the pictures and is very sturdy.

This key is extremely affordable and far better quality than the one that came with the fireplace in our home. Our old key broke off and was made of fairly brittle metal, where this key is considerably heavier weight and I can easily tell that its made of a stronger more dense metal. If you need a key for your gas fireplace, I would highly recommend this one.

When l first purchase my house in 2005 it came with a fireplace key but in the madness of moving in and getting things arranged the key got broken somehow. So we have never used the fire place at all and l was looking on amazon for a replacement key but was not sure what would fit. So upon seeing this one l wanted to give it a try so l ordered it. It came in record time and worked beautifully l was a little shocked but happy with the purchase.

This kept me from a needed trip to Home Depot and needless contact with lots of people. No long walks to find it in giant store. It’s attractive and does the job if ever needed. Feeling safer that now I have this shut-off key for my gas fireplace Unlike stores Amazon had choices too.

Fits in the gas turner perfectly. Great upgrade from our old key!

What can you really say about it. Works like a charm, and it should as it's a pretty simple device, but I ordered because I wanted a flat black one to match all my fixtures rather than the old bronze that was leftover. It still looks nice and better than the bronze I had, but being listed as Flat Black and the bag it came in says Flat Black on it...I expected the color to be correct.
