Q: Why is the recommended age 5 month to 8 years? Is this considered a toy? My 15 year old wants a globe.

My personal feeling is that all globes are considered teaching tools. I purchased this for my 45 year old son, who happens to have a 3 year old son. I think it's too hard to explain oceans, continents and countries, without a globe, to young ones. iPhones and flat maps don't always do the trick. I believe this globe is handsome enough to sit in a Family Room or in an office. It's for my adult son.

Q: is this available in blue not antique?

This up to date model is only available with the "antique" colored oceans.
