We are so glad to get a blue ray version! The way it ends you imagine they intended a sequel to explain the secretary's transformation. We still have fun repeating some of the lines, especially "Red, lovely isn't it" when occasion arrises. After 30 years I finally got around to trying Cockaleeky soup, a Scottish chicken and leek soup with diced prune garnish. It's delicious!! (Amazon has promised a joke for completing 6 reviews, I've done enough reviews to rate 3 jokes but never got any. Sorry to add this in here) Buy the movie while you can or rent it. Maybe not for children too young to understand it is make believe (under 4?) as the head witch, Angelica Huston transforms into a pretty scary witch. (OK Amazon, 3 jokes please for 18 plus reviews

Loved this movie as a child and still love it as an adult. A perfect fantasy horror film to watch alone or with your kids.

After reading the Dahl novel to my kids, we watched this movie version. They liked it. It is a bit scary for younger children, but kids who have read the book shouldn't mind. It isn't a "great film," but it kept everyone entertained.

Best movie ever

After 9 years of waiting, I finally get to see this film as it was shown in the theater!The film itself is excellent: who isn't interested in a film featuring the world's Head Witch?Who, when she takes off her face/upper body mask, is everything you could hope for in a witch?Now for the notes on the BD:This is an MoD BD (so far as I can tell). This means that it is similar to a DVD-R:a) the aspect ratio has been correct on every DVD-R so far, and the MoD BDs appear to be maintaining this traditionb) the quality of the source materials is not always as good as might be wished; in this case, however, I saw no problems; still, other reviewers did, and to them I say: this is how it is with Mod BDs/DVD-Rsc) Warner Archive DVD-Rs tend to have a menu with two choices ("Play" and "Trailer") this BD has a main menu with a third choice ("Subtitles"); the popup menu is the same, and does activate the subtitles, which turn out to be English SDH; the film is a chapter every 2 to 3 minutes or so, possibly inherited, so to speak, from the pan-and-scan DVD (Warner Archive DVD-Rs mostly have one chapter every 10 minutes).These discs are not made for elitists. They are not made for those who value special features. They are made for people who want to /watch the movie/. And who have been waiting a long time to do so. They are films whose market cannot support the effort required for a full-scale DVD (never mind BD), but a smaller market for them does exist.My advice on these is this: if you have been waiting and waiting for the film, buy it. The chance of it coming out on a full-scale DVD or BD is nil, for what market there is is being exhausted by the DVD-R/MoD BD. But if you are picking a few films from a list of films, all of which you want to own eventually, pick the full-scale DVDs/BDs first. You can always buy these when you either get desperate for them or run out of other films to buy.

Un souci avec le DVD il ne passe pas en France surtout n'achetez pas c'est pas parce que vous voyez crie français qu'il va passer chez vous il faut des codes spécial pour qu'il puisse fonctionner

女の子が魔女に囚われて絵の中に閉じ込められるという挿入話を覚えていたのですが、何の映画かドラマで観たのか、さっぱり思い出せず、数か月してある投稿を見て、やっと探し当てました。この部分の話を見るだけで、購入しました。ストーリーもテンポがよく飽きずに観れます。
