Great games, just be aware that you have to photocopy the sheets and then laminate them. Games are just ready for you to use. But very pleased with my purchase my KS1 pupils truly enjoy it

comprehension card games
A different way of approaching the development of comprehension skills. Particularly good for children who prefer a kinaesthetic approach to learning

American words/spellings and you need to copy it to use...
Firstly I bought this as I kept getting told that my son needed to work on his comprehension. When I got it, I realised that you have to photocopy the pages to play any of the games - I work from home and don't have a photocopier, and at 10p a sheet x 70 odd pages almost doubles the price of the book! Frankly when I have paid for a book, I expect not to have to fork out again to use it). However, I copied one of the games (I'm glad it was only one) and when playing it realised that the spellings were American and so were the words. My 8 year old may watch Disney channels but he doesn't know what a popsicle is! Also, some were actually wrong - e.g. the odd one out from a set of 4 words (which were all random vegetables) included squash - I suspect that was the odd one but I don't actually know, as even as a vegetable gardener I couldn't work it out. Very disappointing - it should be clearly labelled as an American product (on the back it only has prices in US and Canadian dollars) so at least you know when you buy it what you are getting.I can see how this would be useful for American teachers who can copy on to card and laminate for long term use, but for parents in the UK it is a waste of money.

but the end result was very nice, if a bit colorless
I bought this for my nephew as he was having some issues with reading in school.I copied the pages onto card stock, cut them out with a paper cutter, and rounded the corners. It was quite a bit of work, but the end result was very nice, if a bit colorless.Last I heard, he quite enjoyed the games and played them from time to time. I looked through the games and was very impressed with them. They did seem like they'd be fun to play, and would definitely encourage reading just by their very nature.

Nice
It's neat and simple to use. Can duplicate for a big group of students. Ideas are simple and straight forward. Suitable for classroom use.

Best book of the series!
I have purchased all three of the titles in this series and have found this one the most useful. Currently I am using the card games with Grade 4 students to work in groups and taking on different roles within the group. The games in this book provide a range of highly engaging and motivating topics for thinking and discussion. Students with a wide range of abilities can play them effectively and get a lot out of it!

They are quick and easy to learn
Bought this book (along with the vocabulary card games) to use with my speech-language students. They are quick and easy to learn, but provide my students with a challenge. My 3rd - 7th grade students enjoy them and request to play them the last 5-10 minutes of each session.
