I'm better than Blind Boy Fuller ... but not as good as the pub gigging muso ...
This is brilliant for busking. Mind you, if some opera singer, with his backing tracks blasting out of a boom box and a voice loud as a mill horn, comes along and stands 20 metres from you, well, you'll have to do what I did ... pack up and go elsewhere. It's meant to be an acoustic amp, but I play a National Reso-lectric through it. And it is marvellous, bringing out the 'banjo' in the resonator cone in the guitar, if you see what I mean. An amplified banjo ... my cup runneth over. Mind you, people often stop and say, That's too much like a banjo ... Well, never mind, there's an opera singer just around the corner ...I use Ansmann rechargeable batteries in it (8 AAs), and I get hours of use from one charge. If you were playing close to full volume though, I think you'd go flat a lot sooner.Strictly speaking it's portable. I find though that carrying it and my guitar is just about doable. For about half a mile. But then I'm an old man and I usually have my dog with me, and she pulls a bit on her lead, so get one of these (not necessarily with a dog) when you're young and fit. It weighs around 9 or 10lbs. A great carrier 'bag' is the Accucase AS-AC-130, slightly too big for the Roland, but that leaves room for bits and pieces ... and only £15.I don't have an acoustic guitar with a pick up so I can't comment on how well it performs the task for which the amp is actually made, but going on how well it does whatever I ask of it, I imagine it would be the perfect thing for bringing out the best in an acoustic. And you could use it to perform in a not too noisy venue.I thank the other reviewers who pointed out how good it is for busking. I might never have discovered that otherwise. My only complaint is that I sit when I play, and my guitar lead is short, so the amp is quite close and I sometimes get quite loud feedback. This happens, for whatever reason, mostly when I'm busking. Perhaps someone will tell me how to cure this (without advising me to stop busking ... I've heard all the 'jokes' by now). The other downside, strangely, is that this amp is very well known to the busker's greatest torture ... yes, the pub gigging muso. Wherever you play, these maestros find you, and are drawn inevitably to the well respected amp and my beautiful National. It is hard for these undiscovered Claptons to listen to such a wonderful instrument being played as ineptly as only a busker like me can. Their faces say it all: wonderful guitar, great amp, but you are crap ... ! I inwardly sympathise with them and hope they will leave it at that. Mostly they do. But the odd underrated superstar among them cracks and says something ... you're doing ok (ie god, you are terrible) ... just a little out (ie you can't even tune it) ... I've never played a National, can I just do a quick piece on it (ie I'm going to show people how wasted that guitar is on you) ... and so on. I have found that the best response to these could-have-beens is maximum effing off instantaneously. It's not my fault that no one in the pub listens to them after the first drink ...Other than that, it's five stars for this fantastic amp.

Nice wee amp
Great wee amp very lightweight, small and easy to carry around without doing your back in. Although its mainly for acoustic guitars and acoustic sounds I use it for my Epiphone Casino semi acoustic guitar with slight distortion and it handles it well. I can also obtain a realistic acoustic sound with my semi too giving me the best of both worlds. Its got plenty of thump when playing back backin tracks through the Aux using my mp3 player. The effects all work well but would have loved to have had a seperate digital delay built in too as I play a lot of 50s stuff.Only downside is the feedback button is not very effective I still get feedback and have to move my mic around sometimes. For a 30 watt amp its not very loud mic wise either I have it turned up full nearly and that's in the house just for practice.

Roland AC-33
I gave this amp 4 out of 5 because it is not quite as loud as I was expecting, however, it is fantastic. For a small unit it has an amazing capacity and achieves a remarkable sound.I would recommend it to anyone

Excellent
I bought this to electrify my acoustic violin (using the Headway Band as a pick-up and a wireless system connecting the two), after hearing it being used to amplify a mandolin and recorder. The sound is excellent in quality, and as I play in a morris side I need a lot of volume to be heard over the squeeze boxes, which this certainly provides you with! Battery wise, I play out most weekends and use it for two hours a week at practice, and find I need to change the batteries about twice a year. Well worth every penny I paid for it!

great little amp but could have been better
This is a great little amp that looks great is light and portable sounds great and appears to be plenty loud enough for what it is designed for. The thing that knocked of a star is that it becomes very expensive once you have bought all the accessories for it i.e batteries(and charger unless you want to spend a fortune on batteries) a foot pedal for the looper(which i will come to in a minute) a carry bag. roqsolid.co .uk The looper pedal is great for practicing but all it does is give you a taste for how great looping is but it will just make you want to go and by an rc30(also made by the same company coincidentally) aswell which will set you back another 250ish quid. The thing i don't like about the looper on the amp is the fact that if you make a mistake on an overdub or get feedback in the loop you cant delete it you have to delete the whole loop. I also think the reverb should have been separate for each channel though it isn't that big a deal. The chorus sounds really nice. I want to finish on a positive though i really do love this little amp i love the fact that it can be used as an mp3 station or speaker for laptop or computer. I also love that it has a line out which means i can play it through my PA system and use it as a monitor. The mic is fine on it you will read many people who complain it isn't loud enough but they don't realise you need to have it right up before it has enough sensitivity for a microphone this is clearly labelled next to the knob. I have only had the amp for two days so will update this review after I have tried it out for more things. Although i complain that you need to by other accessories it is also a positive that it is easily upgradeable by buying different accessories and lets face it there is always more you want to buy when it comes to music equipment. I have also read that LR baggs di box is something you should look at getting with it. So at the moment i have bought the amp and the FS6 foot pedal and i want to buy an lr baggs di box and an RC30 eventually but all this can be added over time. It definitely sounds a lot nicer for acoustic guitar than the street cube which sounds electric and tinny.
