Great book about Cat behavior
I was having issues with my cat being calm one minute and then biting me the next. This book has truly helped me to understand this kind of cat. He was a stray, but obviously came from a home at one time. He loves dogs, he loves being indoors, and is usually very sweet but he can get over stimulated if you pet him too long so I learned from this book to approach him, pet him for just a short time, and let him decide whether he wants me to continue or not. The biting episodes are fewer! I read this book cover to cover the minute I received it.

She is one of the best. However
I am also a feline behaviorist, and have learned a lot from Pam Johnson-Bennett over the years. She is one of the best. However, this book is a little dated in some respects, and I think Pam herself would agree that she would evaluate some things differently, and do some of the training differently now. However, I am looking at it from more of a professional viewpoint. This is still a very good book, especially for the average cat guardian. Some of Pam's more recent books are even better.

Gives you a whole new perspective
Pamela's best books are these case studies. Nothing like a good story and there's so much to learn from. If you want to gain a larger vocabulary to understand what your cat is telling you, I highly recommend her books. Psycho Kitty and Hiss & Tell are also great books!

THIS BOOK IS JUST WHAT WE NEEDED
FOLKS....THIS IS IT. This book is exactly what we needed! Two years ago my husband Larry and I were forced to put down our BELOVED Buffy of 16 years due to numerous health issues and since then we have missed having a cat in our home. As I recently became physically disabled after 45 years of working, we wanted a young cat instead of a kitten because the kittens are always chosen first, leaving the young/older cats without a quiet, clean home. So three weeks ago we adopted Sassy (Siamese - 1 year old) and she is a handful! Imagine our shock when Sassy jumped up on our beautiful furniture and counter tops and our Buffy NEVER did! We needed direction and Pam Johnson-Bennett's book filled the bill. Her philosophies and training methods to break bad habits of an already abused cat have worked wonders. Thank you Pam for a no-nonsense manual to help us bond with Sassy and maybe she too will live another 16 years in our quiet, clean, no children, no other pets home. As homeowners, we would gladly adopt more cats if I could physically get around. But we will see ~ maybe Sassy will have a brother or sister soon. We will be ordering Pam's other books as well.

In-depth book with clear instructions
I’ve only been able to skim parts of the book so far, but can tell it’s going to be very helpful with our 2 yr old, high-spirited, ultra-clever Sphynx. This particular book arrived with a musty odor, but the seller provided prompt, friendly, terrific customer service as a response.

It worked
My problem with my cat is resolved. It was interesting reading on all cat subjects. I was amazed how well the solution worked. No matter what I did I couldn't stop my Smokey Mae from urinating on my upholstered chairs. For a while she didn't pee on my chair then even that was a target.I purchased 3 packages of plastic rug runners and put them spikes out on each chair and on my dining room rug. It seemed to work immediately but no we had a continuation of the problem. It is now ther 2nd week and no problems for the last 5 days. I will keep the plastic on the chairs for a couple of months. It took a while to learn this behaviour so I'll keep the chairs covered so she unlearns the bad behaviour.Thank you for the help.Kit Kita

One Tip Paid for The Book
The tip that paid for the book was placing a bowl of food where Rascal peed twice on a blue velvet sofa! She goes back to feed, but hasn't peed again. I also keep a bowl of dry food in a big plant (with aluminum foil over the dirt as an additional deterrent) where she used to like to climb in and pee. She looks so funny standing on her hind legs while reaching into the plant to eat, like standing at a bar. So we keep bowls of food in four places, and water in two places, plus two litter boxes. She's not fat and likes to browse at her different restaurants.

Twisted Whiskers: Solving Your Cat's Behavior Problems
Since I am a cat lover, I had to check this book out. This book truly helps with all aspects in the way of kitty care. I've read many books on what to do or not to do with kitty behavior problems but this one is on my must have list. If you have behavior problems with your kitty, start with this one. Easy to read and great detail and clear instructions. Plus she gives a holistic bend to it. Way cool! I've order four extra copy of this book to give to my friends as a gift. Every time I'm ordering books, I throw this one along with my order. I'll have an extra copy to give to someone who may need some help with their kitty.

Twisted Whiskers
You learn a lot about your cat reading this book, but I didn't like the layout inside. Also this is an American author, so all the companies you may want to contact at are in USA.If you want something easier to read with addresses in UK, I recommend Cat Detective by Vicky Halls.

Most useful cat behaviour book I have read
Like many USA books, they assume cats are going to be kept indoors at all times for their own safety (which I totally disagree with- they should be free to explore their natural hunting instincts). Also, suggested suppliers for toys etc do not apply to the UK.However, advice on dealing with aggression and territory problems were incredibly useful.
