the best tripod for travel
I picked the aluminium version up for £49 early 2025 and in all honesty that is the best travel tripod for my needs period.CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALSalmost completed made of aluminum, the only things NOT aluminium are:- tightening rings on legs- arca swiss base and clamp- rubber feet :)surprising is the fact that the arca mount is plastic, but it feels durable enough for a lightweight camera. although I replaced it for aluminium one as my fat fingers would likely break it with time and I had one lying around.EASE OF USEthis tripod is really easy to carry and deploy in a pinch. all you need to do is to unfold the legs and raise the main column by twisting one locking ring and you have waist level tripod already (legs not extended). this is how I use would use it most of the time when travelling, and then just pop the tripod back in the backpack in no time.when folded the tripod is about the size of a larger foldable umbrella, but much heavier.FULLY EXTENDEDundoing all 15 locking rings on legs is quite time consuming. I appreciate the fact that these can be extended though as on some ocasions where you can stop for a while and take some video or longer exposure comfortably. once legs are extended it can be left unattended for self portraits once you put your backpack on the attached hook for stability. this is normal for such a lightweight tripod.legs do flex a little with heavier lens, but this is to be expected and doesn't bother me at all. aluminium rod of which the legs are made of can flex a lot before breaking so I'm not worried.THE WEIGHTit's heavier than it looks, but it's a good thing for durability. the tripod being almost all metal means that it will be much more durable than plastic parts found on cheaper tripods especially around the location where the legs meet.

Amazing little tripod
I was astonished by how handy and sturdy is this travel tripod. I spent 2 weeks trekking and I took all kind of photos, from macros to astrophotography, and I was always able to position the camera at the right spot. Very easy to use and configure. Sturdy for such tall tripod that folds incredibly small (plus it has a hook to weigh it down when needed). Very easy to carry and it hardly takes up any space. I have felt in love with it. My only regret is that I didn't buy the carbon fibre model. Despite being super light, any additional weight reduction is welcomed when carrying a heavy backpack. Highly recommeded

For the price it's great
Straight off I was surprised at how lightweight and compact it is. That ticked 2 of the 3 boxes for me.Box 3 = sturdyness this is where you need to manage your expectations. So it's no good in wind or strong breezes but perhaps that goes without saying for a travel tripod? This being my first I can't really compare it to anything else.I do imagine like most things you get what you pay for but used sensibly I think you won't be too disappointed. The size is a definite bonus. I managed to fit it into a camera bag insert along with a Nikon Z6 + 24-70f4 so a complete travel setup. All in, camera/lens included it weighed only a few pounds and fitted comfortably in my carry on luggage bag.To sum it up if stability is your main concern either use caution where and how you set it up. ie don't extend center collum too high etc or dig deep into your pocket and go for something more expensive.Used to Rollie tripods as I have a much larger / heavier/ carbon tripod for more extreme conditions and it's brilliant.I hope this helps!

Superb! Fits in my rucksack.
Super happy with this product. As a working professional I use Libec tripods for work, but you can’t bring those beasts on walks with the family or on holidays.I brought this to Indonesia with me and was so glad I did. It’s small, lightweight and just what I was looking for. I like the fact that it is smaller than peak design tripods when folded.Of course you need use it within its limitations and don’t expect perfection. Would I recommend it? 100% Absolutely. Would I buy it again? Definitely.

Well made carbon fibre tripod.
Wanted a lighter and smaller tripod than my large heavy duty. This fits the bill perfectly and is so light you hardly feel you are carrying anything. I wouldn’t say I could rely on it in strong winds to give no camera shake but I don’t think any travel tripod could do this. It’s quick and easy to extend and looks and feels very well made. Also it comes with carry bag. Would I recommend this tripod definitely hence my four stars.

Very light, but...
THis tripod is very light and very small packed, easy to get in your luggage. Used on a recent trip to Italy where it went in the hold baggage easily. Now lightweight and compactness comes with some limitations - in this case sturdiness. The 5 section legs are very thin and give a little when placing the tripod. The extra height from the centre section is almost unusable as the tripod is not very secure at full height. That said, hanging my bag as a weight on the hook under the centre column helped immensely. I used this with a Canon 6D and various lenses, including a 70-200 f2.8 (on the tripod collar!) and it performed pretty good. Some long exposures show a little movement blur, especially if it was windy.Would I buy it again? Yes, for size and weight, for travel photography, but for any serious long exposures, or astro or landscape shots, I'll stick with the much heavier Velbon. Those of you who have more compact cameras or outfits which don't weigh so much should definitely look at this as an option.

Rollei tripod
Lovely little tripod, lightweight, folds down very small, very portable. I use for a spotting telescope and it provides a pretty stable platform. Extremely good value for the price.
