Listening to Vin Scully call Dodger games was one of life's simple pleasures. Turn on the radio and he was there, the voice, the stories, the kindness, the depth of baseball knowledge … He was a master and I feel lucky to have had so many years with him wherever I may have been. Sadly this book, while clearly heartfelt, is disappointing. The writing does not do Vin justice despite the fact it was written by people who work with words for a living. Instead, it emphasized the gaping hole left by Vin. But to be fair, perhaps only Vin could have given himself the final words he deserved.
