Good performance, surprised to find temp sensor
I've had this installed in the garage for a month now. Works great. Surprisingly sensitive and fairly good range and breadth for motion detection window. The installation was a little wonky. I installed it on an outer corner and I really wasn't a fan of the way the screw was held in place by the plastic mount.I was surprised to have it show up in HomeKit with a temperature sensor and numeric light level sensor. Pretty slick. Could easily use it to determine if I left the garage door open.Update - 1-2-23:Still going strong! Will be adding some smart automation in HomeKit using this sensor soon. I can report that it has survived temps that got to nearly zero (even in the garage! It was a pretty cold stretch) for a couple days. I haven't tried putting another sensor next to it to see how close the temps are to each other, but given that it follows the daily temperature swings for the area, I suspect it's at least qualitatively accurate.

These are great and work well in my Hue Lighting plan
I like these motion detectors a lot. They actually have three detectors built into them. They can sense and report the temperature, the amount of light and any motion. Thee motion detection and light sensitivity are adjustable using the Philip Hue App or Apple Home app. Basically, after selection the installation site, you can use the app to install the device and then adjust its sensitivity to light and motion. You adjust the unit such that it senses how much light there is and it will then either react to motion under those light conditions or not depending on the settings you pick. The motion detection is also adjustable. On my units I have found that they can be very sensitive. In fact too sensitive. I have had to dial mine back a bit to avoid detecting flying bugs and the like. These do have a battery, but so far I have had mine up and running for over a year and they are still going strong. Either way battery life is one of the items the units report back to the app so you will have advanced notice when they neeed to be replaced. One more great thing. These can bee used to trigger lights anywhere in you Hue installation. You configure what lights to control in the app and it will do it. There are different setting for time of day, Night, Daylight and lots of other controls.

Great outdoor motion detector for Philips Hue outdoor floodlights.
The motion detector was very easy to install outside on my siding. It was also easy to setup with the Hue system and Amazon Alexa. It just works great. Have had no issues to date. The only thing that might be a bit of a challenge later on is when the batteries need to be replaced. The device is protected from the rain, so hopefully removing and replacing the batteries will go well when needed.

The hardware is solid, but parts of software needs some work
I received the Hue Outdoor motion sensor and spent the day trying to make it work with little succeess. Connecting the outdoor sensor to the Hue app is easy and painless, but that's where the ease of use ends. First, I noticed the light sensor is stuck at 1 lux no matter what light enviroment it's in. Searching online, this appears to be a known issue and one solution was to remove it from the Hue app, reset it, and add it back to the Hue app. This method didn't work for me. There is a software update coming out that is suppose to fix it, so I will wait and see if it really fixes this problem. The sensitivity option is also problematic. The Hue indoor motion sensor has a High, Medium, and Low setting for the sensitivity. The Hue outdoor motion sensor has a slider instead, which gives you finer control over the sensitivity option. The issue is, no matter how low you set this option, the sensor appears to be still too sensitive. Everytime a car drives past my house, the sensor goes off. Again, even if the sensitivty option is at the lowest setting, it still triggers. The sensitivity option is the only option available to the user to reduce unwanted notifications. But it doesn't work. So, depending on far the sidewalk is outside your house, this device is going to notify you of people walking by, as well as cars driving by.Update 03-14-19The firmware update fixed the light sensitivity issue. So, now the light sensor reports the right values. However, the sensitivity problem remains in that it picks up people walking on the sidewalk and cars moving on the street at the lowest setting. But on the whole, the product works much better with the firmware update now.Update 3-19-2019During the day, I get a lot of false possitives from the motion sensor when it's sunny outside. The sensor detects shadows, caused by th sun moving across it's view, and thinks it's human movement. Thereby tiggering the motion sensor. Again, the sensitivity setting isn't very useful here as well. Lowering the sensitivy doesn't help. You will just have to play with different placement to minimize these false positives. However, the temperature sensor seems accurate though.

After a firmware update, it’s perfect
First, I love the Hue products and even had to go to 2 bridges. For the most part it works great and has excellent range. One screw attaches the mount to your house, and then you hang your sensor on that mount. It seems pretty secure. I put it at an elevation of 8’2” to maximize the area of coverage. When I first got the motion sensor, the dusk to dark light sensor in it did not work, always triggering the lights even in bright daylight. This was at firmware version 6.1.0.25261. However, a firmware update came through, and now the sensors works perfectly!I have it triggering floodlights outside. With Apple Home Kit it’s super nice because I have it buzzing my Apple Watch too, and also it gives you a temperature sensor out there as well, which is a nice added bonus and appears to be accurate (without rigid testing of it).Very happy with this Philips sensor, now that they have updated the firmware and made the light sensor work properly.

Has never failed
We've had one of thesr installed for four years and it has never...repeat...never failed. In fact, in our case, it overperforms a little! Sensor spots deer in the back yard 40+ feet away with ease. Anyone in the back yard gets lit up immediately. Great accessory for Hue owners. I think Hue is discontinuing this, so get one while you can.

Great product
Purchase this for safety reasons to make sure the front door light comes on with motion sensor and it works great, easy to setup and work great with my Philips Hue hub.

Altamente recomendado

Expensive but Worth it
I paired it with my Hubitat hub. It also has an illuminance sensor and motion-sensitive adjustment. Works very well.

Funciona bien, sensitividad a movimiento le da un plus
Cuando lo instalé bajo Smartthings hub...pierde funcionalidad de ajuste de sensitividad a movimiento

Easy To Use / Excellent App Support
The Hue outdoor motion sensor is very sensitive, maybe a bit to sensitive, however the app allows you to set the sensitivity. I have found that I get false triggers during the daytime, but when it’s dark out, its very accurate. Integration with Alexa makes the sensor easier to develop routines and the response time is almost immediate. I have used the sensor with a Hue smart switch to make my own critter scarecrow. I find that it works well with rabbits, cats and dogs.
