Worked out of the box
This item works perfectly for my needs it was charging as soon as I removed it from the box. I did have to drill a couple holes in the mounting bracket I mounted on a 4x4 with a platform vs on a fence post.

Wouldn't stay charged
We have had this for about 4 months and will not stay charged. Ifits a cloudy day it won't work even if it was sunny for days. My husband has to do way more extra things to get it to charge then necessary. I wish it worked bettwe 🤷🏼♀️

Batteries don’t last and it’s only the fall. I can imagine what’s gonna happen in the winter.
I’ve had to swap these out a couple of times and let them rest in the sun with no load because in the fall on a cloudy day, they cannot recharge quick enough
