wow
This is both the most expensive and by far the nicest keyboard I've ever owned. Someone talked me into a mechanical keyboard with the caveat that it us the cherry red ultra quiet switches and I decided to one-up them and get an entire keyboard made by cherry (with the ultra-quiet red switches) and I both wowed my friend and wowed myself. My typing speed has measurably increased and I just like the feel of they keys. I could do without the they fancy game keyboard lighting (the only games I play involve trying out new coding techniques for fun) but I can overlook the unnecessary flashiness and still give this bad boy 5-stars.Splurge. Sometimes it's worth it.

Love it or hate it, not in-between
From other reviews, you either love it or hate it. I'm in the latter category, at least as far as the hardware goes. Some say the ramp angle is too high but I'd like a bit more myself--I learned on an antique Royal manual. Some say the keys springs are too strong, takes too much pressure to push them; with my arthritis, any weaker and I'd be all-the-time hitting false strokes. These "black" keys are about right for me, which is of course the important part--I'm glad I finally found them! If possible, I recommend trying many different keyboards until that "this is it!" hits. This was it for me. So why ding a star? The miserable excuse for configuration software. For the most part, it just doesn't work at all. However, it did manage to update the firmware, and after that operation I was able to use the Fn key combos to achieve the all-green steady backlight I wanted. After, of course, finding the manual on ManualsLive.com; for some reason I could not get it from their website--state secret? A 2-page user manual for a retail product? Anyway despite the rant I got what I wanted, a professional keyboard that caters to my limitations, and that's what I was after so it all comes around in the end.
