The Fourth Island

The fourth island is a mythical Aran island that is out of time and has no language barriers. People arrive there inexplicably but a commonality is some quality of despair. There are also natives born to the island People seem happy on the island which has a distinctive pattern of sweaters We first learn of this when a man with this unrecognizable pattern sweater washes up on one of other Aran islands.A deaf woman from one of these islands ends up on fourth island where she can hear and becomes a poetPeople from other islands become infected by the despair inherent in the fourth island - it seems to seep into soil - but discover these sweaters are a kind of protection.
