This is lovely feeling silk yarn that costs much less than what's available in local yarn stores. You have to wind the hanks into balls and do this carefully so the yarn does not tangle. (I found that looping the hank over the back of a soft leather recliner worked perfectly.) In winding two hanks, I found only a single knot in the 2,000 yards (which is great). I use the yarn doubled, as it is very thin, to get the equivalent of fingering weight yarn. I previously knit a lovely scarf of silk yarn, and I am now knitting a lightweight summer cardigan. The doubling of the yarn is not apparent, and the knitted garment has a lovely feel and drape.

I bought this item for research use at my school. This skein of yarn is GENUINE MULBERRY SILK. It is the real deal. I took an infrared spectrum of the yarn to test its authenticity. It matches that for mulberry silk. I also imaged the strands using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).

The thread CONSTANTLY tangles, when unraveling there was a huge cluster of thread causing preventing me from continuing, I tried to de tangle it but it felt as thought the entire thing was knotted, just plain horrible. Also this is not yarn, it is incredibly thin, resembling thread not 6-ply yarn. The crochet hook that I tried to use (2.25) was too big, don’t buy if you want to use with a hook over 2mm.

This is good quality yarn: even thread, no knots, no breaks. Some reviewers complain about unreveling issues, but you need to know at which end to start, then it is an easy-peasy task.

The yarn itself is very nice and soft, the color is spot on with the pictures and can’t wait to use it.The only downside is where description says 1200 yards the package says it’s ~1000 yards. So if your project is going to need the entire 1200 yards you might want to order more or look elsewhere.
