Overall good book
I was surprised that the term "ROM" meaning Read-Only Memory was not listed, it's been around almost as long as computers have existed. I go way back to IBM 360, the large disk drives. That was part of ROM. Maybe the term will be part of the next edition, I hope so. ROM is necessary to hold the operating system. No floppy disk(former, still used with some systems) switch around to reload the OS(Operating System). I did enjoy the rest of the book, passed it on, with the additional information on ROM.

Pretty good, but a little too much for most 8-10 year olds
This is a great general book about how computers work and how they came to be, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it for kids closer to 8. Even kids over 10 may have trouble understanding the language used and some of the concepts.

If you are looking for a good reference book
I was looking for a good reference book for my computer class I teach. This book was one of two book I found and it fits the bill for a good reference book. The Internet may be alright in finding some information but if you need some sort of reference the students can read this is it.
