Q: Is this sturdy enough for 2 large cats?

No, it's not. This is a flimsy cat tree, the supports are narrow and it's light-weight. I have two large cats and they constantly get in each other's way trying to maneuver on it. That being said, the stability problem can be fixed by placing a heavy weight on the bottom. I used a water-filled patio umbrella base, no more tipping over.

Q: If this doesnt fit can i return?

Yes, at YOUR expense. So figure $40+ return shipping, which is what I was quoted. When the return costs half the price of the item, it's not worth it.
