The handle works good for lifting a potjie lid, which was the intent of my purchase. It is short in length, so on a dutch oven the shorter length puts your hand near the heat source on the lid.The materials and manufacture appear sound. The finish is thin and will not withstand abuse, so don't slide the ends on an abrasive surface or drop it. I expect it to last a long time with just minimal care.

Why have I never seen one before now? This is a must have!

I got this as my wife owns 3 different Dutch ovens and I have 1 that I use sometimes when camping. I cannot tell you how many times I have not taken a potholder with me camping and have to run grab a pair of plyers or a towel/rag to lift the lid to check on the camp stew, soup, chili, etc. This works fantastic for just this purpose. Love that you can lift the lid with one hand, and it feels secure, while you use the other hand to stir your pot. Fantastic lid lifter, so glad I got it.

This lid lifter is so useful for safely lifting hot and heavy cast iron lids. It has a compact size that won't take up too much space. The spiral handle is comfortable to hold and helps to redirect even more heat away from your hands. Additionally, the tool has some sort of enameled coating to help prevent rust. Make a little room in your camping kit for this one!
