Tulip needles are the best
This is the needle I’ve been looking for, to do big stitch quilting with 12 weight thread. I do like the short sashiko needles that have 3 different sizes, but I only like one particular size in that one, so I get only 2 needles that I like out of six. This pack is 4 needles, a higher cost per needle, but all 4 are the same and they work for me. I’ve tried embroidery, milliners, and chenilles, but this is going to be it for me.

Nice sashiko needles
These needles delivered quickly, nicely packaged, the needles in a cleverly designed box, with the needles inside a glass tube with a small cork stopper. Not much trouble threading sashiko thread into the eye. But I couldn't say I thought the eye was much larger than the eye on other needles.Tulip and Olympus seem to be the most easily available sashiko needles thought to be higher end quality, Tulip needles are preferred by some people as being thinner thinner than the Olympus or Clover needles. But that's just what I've read in other people's needle recommendations, I'm new to sashiko.I'd recommend you find the English language website for Tulip needles and read their information about their sashiko needles, just do an internet search for " tulip 広島針 " = tulip hiroshima needle, and you will find their website. Look under handicrafts / sewing needles. Good info on the design, and how manufactured, and a link to a 9 page pdf file describing their craft needles. The sashiko needles are on page 6.This set, sashiko needles big eye straight thin size , is Art No. THN -103e, described as: 0.84mm x 51.5mm , 4/pack, feature: straight from its body to large needle eye.As an FYI for other Tulip Sashiko needle sets:THN-030e Sashiko Assorted long needles:two each of : 1.02mm x 66.7mm ; 0.97mm x 44.5mm ; 0.84mm x 51.5mmTHN-031e Sashiko Assorted short needles:two each: 0.84mm x 45.4mm ; 0.91mm x 42.9mm ; 0.84mm x 36.4mmTHN-1023e Sashiko big eye long thick:Four needles: 0.91mm x 51.5mmKogin needles: THN-1013:4/pack: 1.14mm x 65.0mm - thin rounded point for kogin embroidery.

ALMOST PERFECT
I bought these needles for big stitch quilting. They worked perfectly--easy to thread both 12 wt thread and size 8 pearl cotton. Did not bend with the stitching. Slipped through the layers no problem. Then the bad happened. The needle broke at they eye. I thought it may be a bad batch. Took a needle from a second package--stitched for several hours and the eye broke again. Luckily I was able to find those teeny tiny pieces of shrapnel so they did not get buried in the quilt, a disaster waiting to happen. I stopped using them and started using a size 5 Clover milliner needle also purchased on Amazon. The eye is smaller, but seems to be sturdier. No problem getting 12 wt thru the eye with the help of wire needle threader. It is almost the same length. I do not recommend these sashiko needles for any sewing project where a broken eye may render it useless by embedding itself in the project. Think baby quilt. If they were not so prone to breaking at the eye, the needle would be outstanding. They are now relegated to being expensive basting needles

Excellent needles.
Doing a great job with sewing the binding on a quilt. Very sharp, threads easily, sews a nice even stitch. Has good strength and doesn't just bend when used through multiple layers. Very happy with this purchase.

Amazing needles
From the finish to the length to the strength these needles are fantastic! I know they're supposed to be for sashiko but I don't think I'll buy any other needles in the future. They have the right amount of grip on fabric and they're the right size for my big ol' hands. Get some in hand and you'll immediately feel the difference.

Long needles
These needles are quite long and very sharp. They are ideal for sashiko needle work. It is easy to make several long spans of stitching due to the length of the needle. I would recommend using a traditional Japanese leather finger shield to press the needle through the indigo fabric. I do not consider the eye of this needle particularly "big" however.
