Not useful over packed snow.
I may work OK on a fresh snow, but not at all on spring or summer snow in the mountains. Packability and weight is plus, but I still got rid of it and replaced by a conventional aluminum one for my mountaineering trips.

Fits in Backpack
This shovel fits in a travel backpack and at the same time provides some back protection. Easy to carry while touring or just throw in the back of your trunk. Very lightweight.

Great BC Shovel
I've spent a lot of time in the backcountry and used the SnowClaw countless times. It works amazingly well and is so easy to pack, I never go without it. They also make great gifts for my BC friends.

space saver
I picked this up when I bought a smaller BC skiing pack. when you don't plan on using it but in a emergency it works.

ok for the money-- not a sub for shovel in deep snow.
It works good, is easy to store, but if you are stuck in the mountains ther is no sub for a shovel.
