Nice bit of gear and it does what it's supposed to do. Quite heavy as well which is also good. Doesn't feel cheap in any way at all. Overall great value for the price.

I am very pleased with the Daptez hand Plane.It does a good job.

There's nothing specifically wrong with this plane, but if you are expecting to do any planing with it out of the box, you are going to be disappointed. It is covered in machine oil (yes, I understand why, but it really is COVERED and it took a good deal of effort to clean it up). The blade is shipped unsharpened. If you already have experience of sharpening plane blades and all the necessary kit, then that might not matter. I didn't. I spent another £40+ on wetstones and guides - and once that all arrived, it took nearly 3 hours just to fully flatten the back of the plane blade (the machining marks in the metal took a *lot* of work to remove) - and then I was able to start putting an edge on it - that took a further couple of hours. Putting it back together, I noticed that the chip breaker cannot be squared with the blade, making the process of assembly and leveling the blade quite hit and miss. Now that it is re-assembled, trued up and sharp, it is not a bad tool - it has a nice heft to it and it feels solid enough - but I didn't expect to need to do quite so much work to get to this point!
