Dimplex Springborne Coal Stove SBN20 by Dimplex

Decided to cancel this item but it was still delivered so gave it a go. So pleased decided to keep it. Quiet in operation gives a lovely warm cozy effect. Like the remote control to turn on or on but does not control heating settings. Warning that I registered it for it’s one year warranty which was no problem. However Domestic and General will not extend warranty say it’s no longer viable so not sure if people after a year have had problems. However pleased with my purchase it’s smart tidy and 3 bags of coal come with it to place where you want.

I have owned the Springboune Stove since 2020. The stove is used to heat the room only on a very occasionally basis. During the winter months, the lights are used to illuminate the fireplace for effect. The fan heater is far too noisy, the top setting is, frankly, unusable. The provided remote control was (past tence) basically useless, being so unreliable we simply didn't bother with it. It still managed to fall apart, the top plate came away from the main body, despite not being used. Last weekend I decided to put the fire effect lights on, for the first time since last February, and the awful rocker switch clicked, the lights flashed or a second and then went out again. That was all it would do, obviously the fan heater would not work either. I contacted Dimplex, I submitted a 'ticket' and soon after I received an email saying that I hadn't submitted the information they required and the ticket was cancelled. This happened numerous times before I was eventually informed that Dimplex do NOT repair their own products outside of the guarantee period! I then asked for information regarding a local, authorised dealer that I could take the stove fire to...they simply haven't responded to that request yet. In the meantime, I decided to buy a new ON/OFF rocker switch and fit it myself. Dimplex were happy to provide contact information and a useful link to the spare parts partner so that I could order the original and genuine part. You cannot order a single switch, you have to purchase all three switches for £49. They arrived the next day, postage was £12, the first thing I noticed was the awful quality of the switches, I had to take great care handling the new on/off switch as I replaced the old one. The old switch actually broke in my hands upon removal. I then put the fire back together and tried it...the problem persisted, the new switch had made no difference. I have noticed in recent months that people often strip these fires and sell the parts for spares on auction websites and even social media sites. I haven't found an electrical shop in my local area that will take on the required repair so I my have to strip it and sell the parts myself. Dimplex aren't interested in customer service, sustainability or anything other than selling me another product.I will be buying another electric fire but I certainly will not be buying a Dimplex product again.

Arrived on time, well packaged. Stove is exactly what we wanted and fits perfectly. Plug it in and off you go.The flame effect is really very good, better than an old fire we had, the fan is noisy which you expect but it does warm the room., there is a hum when the flame effect is on but it's not as loud as the fan on the computer so no problem. We got the stove for the fire effect and am really happy with it. You get small coals too to put on top which you can arrange as you like. Visitors have been impressed with it too. A cheaper alternative to a real wood burner and less mess too.

Essentially, this is a fancy Fan heater-it can warm up a room very quickly- but it looks nice & has a fake coal effect, which seems a bit naff at first, but grows on you, giving a "cosy" effect. We like it! It was delivered before original estimated delivery date-well done.

A neat make-believe log burner for a modern cottage. No wood to chop or dust to clear up. Looks like a real log burner when lit up with the LED back lights. The two KW of power is enough back up heat for a small lounge. Clever thermostat to save a bit of electric. Nice, happy.

I bought this to replace the same model I bought 2 years ago which had developed an unacceptable noise with the fan running. I had to get the same model again due to the position into which this model fitted. I had hoped to be able to purchase a replacement fan but was not able to do so. I only hope the replacement model does not suffer from the same problem - if it does then I will have to completely redesign the surround of the fireplace and get a different model - but probably of another make.

If you want a Product which has been designed by a blind folded chimp, but this piece of landfill.Honestly after a few months the drive motor for the flames, starts to become very noisy, but this little motor is buried deep within a sea of screws, plastic, badly designed future maintenance foresight.But Hey DIMPLEX obviously started their design from the this cheap motor and built around it... Honestly to repair / replace this cheap motor would mean hours of dismantling.So its now a very noisy annoying light feature.But hey is you want to throw away a few hundred rock on, buy it - You'll regret ever second of its ownership.Dimplex seem to be very good at producing landfill without a care for the environment.You'd be better off burning the 200 quid in fivers - you'd get more enjoyment from that.BIG THANKS DIMPLEX

Love this fire, bought for my conservatory as its safer for little ones playing in there.Very well made and worth the money. Warms room very quickly , slight noise doesn't bother me at all.I ordered this on 13/10/16 and told delivery would be 17th but it arrived on 21/10\16. Got in touch with seller and he chased it up for meOrdered this on 13th Oct /16
