You don't need to spend money on a stand alone lat machine. This will work just fine in a lot of weight benches. It's a great value and it's also a space saver.

WHY I NEEDED THIS LAT PULLDOWN
My workout area is among the clutter of the family garage. I was able to eke out about a fifth to a fourth of the garage space to put my weight bench, piston rower, and stationary bike.I mostly did free weights when younger. At 72 I started up again recently with free weights and my other equipment, Having a cable system seemed like a safer, more versatile method of training. What sold me on cable is that there is consistent weight throughout an exercise's full range of motion - this is unlike, for example, the leg extension with weights where the resistance starts out at zero and reaches the max when the legs are fully extended horizontally. So the leg extension attachment came out and the Deltech lat pulldown attachment went in. I am pleased with the quality of the product. From the reviews of the white version of the lat pulldown, I knew that I had to rotate the post 90 degress; this works out fine for my space. I am 6 feet tall so the reviews about the vertical post not being tall enough was a concern. Turns out not to be an issue; I did seated pulldowns seated on the old black cushioned chair - I actually had to lower the post from the 2nd to the 3rd hole from the bottom to get the optimal start and stretch for the lat pulldown exercise.Only encountered a minor problem: the vertical post was wobbly front-to-back and side-to-side. This was fixed with wood shims (from Home Depot paint stick); I covered these up with strip of silver wrapping that I had.The plan is to make a wooden platform to stand/sit on to the side of the weight bench and to add a low pulley on a 2 x 4 mounted vertically up from the platform; this way I will keep from perhaps lifting up the weight bench when pulling up from the low pulley. The added low pulley would support other exercises like standing bicep curl, standing hamstring curl, seated leg extension, and seated cable rowing, etc. I will mount the leg extension attachment to the platform to do the seated leg extension - now with cable!

Could be a tad bit taller. By about 6 inches.
I'm 5'10" and I must put the bottom of the shaft on top of the pin in the bench hole just to get it taller so that I can get that stretch as I pull down from the wide grip. Other than this issue. This lat pulldown attachment is of gym quality. It can take heavy weight but you'll probably be limited to just using ten pounds plates. So probably you can fit up to 120 lbs worth of ten pounds plates with the collar. This machine is good for building lat endurance. But you'll need to get access to a more weight balanced machine with higher weight loading capacity to train for heavy lifts.
