works great, moves air keeps cool
works great, moves air keeps cool, easy to install just cut hole in roof and run the electrical wire to a wall outlet. I added a on/off switch so I can turn it off whenever. Yes it is a little loud, I have it in my garage so it is exposed from the bottom and it is a little loud but not unbearable. It really moves air pretty good, I leave the fan on for 30 min in the evening when it cools down outside and the garage feels way cooler almost 30 degrees after getting the trapped hot air out. My dogs love it.........A month later of using it everyday 30 min to an hour and absolutely no issues. works great! Oh and I bought the brown one and painted it black with rustoleum, no problems and saved $20

Very good investment
This fan is great. Yes it’s loud so go as high a possible on the roof and locate somewhere where you think it needs to most air to be moved. I also added more ventilation with additional soffits or you might risk sucking AC air from inside your home thru recess lights or other minor gaps from your ceiling. This fan may help extend the life of your roof, AC unit and may lower your AC bill. I’m in south Texas by the way so my attic heats up quickly in the summer.

Strong exhaust
Works well. Very loud in house

You might have to pop up the shingles if the roofer nailed the top in and not just the bottom.
Very powerful. I have a 3,000 square foot house and I put two in. They are pulling so much air that I am having to adjust the vents on each end of the house.Con: just a little loud.

Way too noisy! Save your money!
I purchased 2 of these fans and they are so noisy that are neighbors that live over 200 yards away can hear them! They thought we had some kind of heavy equipment near our house! I won’t recommend or buy them ever again. That is a ridiculous amount of noise. I called their customer service and they were no help at all. At first they blamed the installation which was done by a professional roofer. Then they said maybe the fans were installed backwards, which they weren’t. They said they would replace any defective parts! Ha, ha! How can I determine which part is defective? I think both fans are defective and they wouldn’t send new fans! Save yourself a lot of extra cost and heartache and don’t buy them!

DAMAGED DOME DASE.
The base of the dome was bent went it arrived. I really needed to get the fan running, so I removed the new motor and installed it in the old dome housing. I emailed the manufacture, and they said we do not handle damaged parts. The fan runs great, but BROAN customer service is lacking.

Nice addition - easy install
This fan has many nice features. First, once installed you can access all fan parts for future repairs from the roof. My house is very difficult to gain attic access so this roof access feature will be handy. Next, cutting and installation was a breeze. I obtained power from an existing switch to a small laundry room ventilator. I unhooked this small vent leaving the part thu the roof. This adds more vent space. Then added a short length of wire to the new power vent location. No problems with install. Another nice feature is the high CFM and PVC dome. PVC should last a long time and can be painted if needed. The vent also has a heavy duty screen to keep critters out of attic.

This was easy to install following directions
after reading some reviews i was worried this may be too loud inside the house. Admittedly, it can be heard outside quite well, but inside the house it keeps to a low hum. This was easy to install following directions, and provided immediate relief from a sweltering attic. Thanks.

Works very well, noise is not as bad as other reviews
The item was installed when I had my roof re done last week, so far its been working great, no problem wiring it up with the bypass switch. Noise level is there, its not quiet but its not a locomotive but you can hear a hum inside and outside the house. Upstairs is like night and day, rooms are much much cooler after installing this, I had the issue of the basement freezing, main floor cool and upstairs warm, you could feel the heat as you go up the stairs now it feel like the main floor what a difference. Make sure you have enough ventilation on the soffits to suck in cool air .

Repaired existing attic fan.
I bought this unit, but only used the motor, and the mounting arms to repair an existing MasterFlow attic fan. The motor sits higher than older units, so the new fan blade is very close to the dome lid. Thus I had to refit using the older fan blade. This of course results in a lower CFM, but because of the weather (boiling hot), that's about the extent I was willing to do at the time. Still made a HUGE difference, the entire upper floor cooled in a matter of hours as the fan cooled the ceiling. There are lots of people who will pontificate about a vacuum set up sucking up air conditioned air from the house, and wasting electricity. But (being a mechanical engineer), I made sure that I have almost 200% more soffit intake venting than the attic fan requires. It does make a huge difference.Only slight downside is that there is a very minor low frequency rumbling when the fan is on. You don't get something for nothing. In the fall, when it is cooler, I'm going back to the roof, and replacing the old housing and installing the rest of the Broan. One thing to note that this unit is not CSA approved, so technically cannot be sold in Canada. If there is a warranty issue, you cannot get parts sent to Canada.

Failed in second year
Worked well for the first Summer, a little noisy but OK. Part way through next year it became very noisy. I took it apart and ran the motor on my bench. It seems there is an electrical problem with the motor windings, but the bearings are fine. It vibrates like crazy with power on but the instant the power is off it spins smooth as silk down to a stop. Also with power on (no fan attached) the motor gets very hot within 30 seconds or so. As others have pointed out there is no warranty in Canada.

Incorrect thermostat control
Bought the fan end of last year. Was installed recently. Set to 100 deg F.. Fan would not turn on until 115 deg F.. Tried a few trials on thermostat setting but still operates erratically. Can somebody send me a replacement thermostatic? I bought a new thermostatic over a year ago for an old fan and it was working beautifully!
