Very Solid Product!!
I have used this product several times on shotguns and pistols, in different colors and the results were as advertised. It has a hard finish that gives a factory look if done properly. First of all unload the firearm, take the gun apart totally if you need a professional finish. Lightly sand parts to be finished with 400 grade sand paper. De greased with an organic base degreaser such as purple blaster or simple green, this wont leave any microscopic oil residue that would mess up your finish. Blow dry with compress air and tape out areas that you dont want to apply duracoating, then use a hair dryer to lightly warm. Ensure that spraying area is dust free. Mix color and hardener to the desired ratio. With your compressor set at 35 psi, Apply finish in four thin and even coats about 1 minute apart while using the hair blow dryer in between coats to enhance drying for the subsequent coats. Spray gun should be held approximately 12 inches from the work to achieve a factory finish look. To be on the safe side, give the gun about an hour to dry. Reassemble in 24 hrs and 3-4 weeks would be good for the color to cure and harden by itself. This particular product is good as i have used it on my hunting shotgun over 6 yrs now and the gun has been exposed to some relatively tough conditions and it still looks brand new. It doesn't strip or peel, not even paint remover can take it off. It is that strong.

Better than bluing, just Amazing!!!
The best quality on the market! To my new gun, just sprayed it over, no stripping or sanding."Generally you need only wait overnight, or 1 hour if baked at 110 degrees F, to reassemble and fire you weapon. Most abrasive solvents, cleaners, and lubricants can also be used at this point. Full cure time for DuraCoat is four to six weeks.# The ideal mixing ratio of DuraCoat to DuraCoat Hardener is 12 parts DuraCoat to 1 part Hardener. You can make your finish glossier or shinier by adding a little more Hardener, up to 10:1. You can make the finish duller, or more matte by using less Hardener, down to 14:1. Any greater or lesser ratio of Hardener may negatively affect durability.# DuraCoat can be applied in a multitude of textures, with dry film thickness from .25 mils to 1.5 mils. You may add more on high-wear areas where tolerance is not an issue. The thicker and heavier you spray, the shinier your finish will become.DuraCoat is permanent. With normal use, a firearm finished with DuraCoat will last several lifetimes.Depending on your spray equipment, spray technique, climate and environment your DuraCoat may or may not need reducing. If your DuraCoat does not lay down smooth on the surface of your firearm, it most likely needs to be reduced.DuraCoat is dry to the touch in 20 minutes, can be handled in 1 hour and is ready for use overnight. Although DuraCoat will gain most of its final hardness, elasticity and chemical resistance over a 4-6 week period, time will continue to enhance DuraCoat's characteristics over a lifetime. DuraCoat, like fine wine, gets better with age."

I used this on some rifles and a pistol and they looked great. Spray light with multiple coats so it won't run. Don;t put the coats on very heavy. It works great.

Worked as advertised and looks great.
Following the directions this stuff works great. Finish was perfect, just need to make sure you do not apply too much at one time. Be patient and do multiple coats. Allow to dry completely.

Duracoat Finish On A Shotgun
I ordered the Duracoat based on recommendations I have seen on YouTube and of an acquaintance who also refinishes guns. I have just completed the restoration of one antique shotgun, and so far I am a bit disappointed with the results. The finish has not been near as durable as I had hoped, however, it is possible that I did not have an appropriate mixture of paint vs. hardener when I sprayed the gun with an airbrush. The hardener is almost paste-like and it is difficult to see if it mixes properly with the paint. It was very easy to apply with the airbrush and the appearance of the completed shotgun was very good, however, after letting it dry for over two days I found that I could fairly easily scratch the finish. I am sure it was not the result of improper preparation of the shotgun as I sanded it down to the bare medal and used all the proper techniques to remove grease and fingerprints before spraying the gun. I have now sanded down the part of the gun where I need to reapply the paint and I was surprised at how easily the paint was removed. I will apply another coat of paint to the sanded areas of the gun and see if I have any better results. So far, the rather high cost of the Duracoat versus the results I have had makes it a questionable product for me. I remain hopeful for better results with it!
