Just finished building a cedar bird house and wanted to mount it in the mulch bed. It took seconds to connect everything. I would strongly recommend screwing the baseplate onto the bird house first. This will then allow you to attach the base to the pole. I love the fact that you can adjust the height very easily by removing one or more of the pole sections. I will edit the review if anything changes.

This seems like a it will be a decent, sturdy pole for my bluebird house. I liked that it came with two different mounting adapters and if its location isn't up to snuff with the bluebirds, I can fairly easily move it to another area. My issue was that during assembly I discovered that several joints of the sections would not tighten completely- they would just spin to infinity. (Maybe that's because this doesn't have typical 'threads'?) So I tried repeatedly re-arranging the positions of the pole sections, and that solved the tightening problem in all but one of the joints. For that joint, I had to use a TON of plumbers tape (3 applications worth) before I could finally get it to tighten fully. The company definitely needs to improve how these pole sections thread together!

This is a 90 inch heavy duty pole! You assemble the pole and stick it in the ground where you need it. The sections of the pole are made of heavy duty metal and they screw together tightly, overlapping for a more secure finished pole. The bottom of the pole is a pitchfork style that you pound in the ground and the top of the pole has a choice of two different platforms to screw your birdhouse or feeder onto. This is a great convenience as you can put anything in your yard anywhere. I use these poles around the yard regularly to hold solar lights, solar security cameras, and of course bird feeders and bird baths. (I have yet to put a birdhouse on top of one.) This pole is well built, the pieces fit together very well, and the pitchfork base is sturdy. If you want to add a little more stability to the base, you could add a landscape rock as weight on top of the pitchfork, or you could hammer in a stake next to the pole and zip tie them together, I haven't felt the need for either. The entire product has a satin textured black coating that will resist weathering and rust. I am very happy to have this in my backyard!
