The Needle Barely Moves
*****Spoilers*****Another book full of journeys and obstacles to overcome for Adara, Einar, and friends. Like the first book, this one is told from many perspectives which is okay except I really wanted most of it to be Adara and Einar. Instead we get a lot of the other characters, which considering how this book is being told I get why it's told this way, but don't like that it truncates the times with the two main characters. I guess a tradeoff would be to make the book longer or perhaps even not to break this into three separate books in the first place.Anyway, this book doesn't advance the story much, we just get Adara going through the kingdom trying to find a place of refuge which she gets in the water kingdom, a bunch of people around her with their own agenda, and supporters and detractors. Another option for a love interest in thrown in and conflicting reports about the shadow magic that causes Adara to doubt herself. I will say I find it curious how Adara is collecting people so loyal to her when she really isn't doing or saying much to earn it. Outside of the harpies, Adara is mostly just kind of there going with the flow and learning about the players involved. Also curious is how suddenly Einar decides to tell her that she's his mate and what it means. Adara and Einar bite one another in this book so a bond begins to form between them but the last step is sex which they don't get to in this one. What does come of it though is that Einar is more also immune to shadow magic. Going on to the next one in the series but I spent most of the time reading this book being impatient for something more to happen. Once it does though and Adara is doing her coming of age ceremony, it's conveniently broken up before it's complete, by Dune, Adara's now shadow infested kind of sort of ex-boyfriend. Her mom is still infested with Nox, the Shadow Queen, at the end of this one. I was hopeful that she'd try finding a cure for the shadows that infect people but all they did was kill everyone.

Great story! But she needs to find a better editor
I love the story. I’ve been eating up the series so far. But I keep getting taken out of the story when so many details are getting mixed up. In this book, and the first one the timeline kept not adding up. Like something happened 3 days ago and then when it is next referenced it was yesterday. It is driving me crazywhat's worse is messing up character names. Kiryan was Kyrian for a couple pages when we first met him and I could not focus on anything else. The harpy who saved her in book one was named Aria, not Amelie. Things like that are making it harder to read, hence the 3 star rating. The story is 5 star the bad editing is bringing it down.I'm really hoping the editing in the third book is better but I doubt it. Still gonna read it though.

more please
I love the teasing out of the character connections and the world building. There’s so much potential for story here, it’s so richly written and I’d read even more, other books set in this world.

This one hurt a lot
Beautiful story you are weaving and the political corruption is evident even before presented so obviously before us, but the ending was painful how could you… very well done can’t wait to see what’s next even if it rips my heart out as well

Full of Fire and Ice
This book! This book! This book! So much could be said about it but the best possible thing I can say is read it. Adara and Einar are prefect together. Their passion for each other growing instead of being thrown together without thought. Leap and Mavlyn adding just the right amount of humor and relief from harrowing story line. It's precisely what a good read should be. While I'm disappointed by the ending I'd figured it would end the way it did seeing as she is half dragon. The characters are brilliant and strong in their personalities. The world building is beautiful and inspiring. The Evil guys are just the right amount of aggravating and interesting without being too much of a pain that you can't stand to read about them. I can't wait for the next book to come out. For Adara to finally unlock her beast and powers and take the kingdom back. And for her mate bond to sealed lol.

great next installment
I loved the majority of the book and the story, I could put this down at times where I couldn’t with the first one because the romance progresses but in a very young and innocent way, especially for fated males but it’s still very good and look forward to book #3

Excellent Story, Dreadful Design Choice
This and the other 2 are absolutely amazing. The writing draws you in and you really feel along with the characters.A definite page turner. However, I'm not sure who made the choice to use a greyscale image with white text on the first page of every single chapter, but shame on you.The lack of contrast not only makes this annoying to look at, taking away from both the image and the writing, but it stands in clear violation of accessibility.Believe it or not, there are people that cannot see the difference of the words and the image because of the ridiculously poor copy contrast. I'm not one of these people and I found it extremely difficult. All three books could have been 5 fulls stars except for this blunder. I sincerely hope that next rounds of printing take readers with disabilities into the thought process.
