Sensational Sweet: The Brian Connolly Years 71-77

i think it is safe to say you can call this the ultimate sweet collection and the first box set of sweet discs in the now well over 30 year age of the cd era, what is odd is this is called chapter one and honestly i cant think of more by the sweet anyone would want!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you get all 1970s albums with brian that includes restored artwork with great remastering as well as the classic rainbow london show from december 1973 as well as a lot of killer bbc stuff , radio sessions and another disc filled with b sides and rare tracks, on the bbc disc they do a great medley of WHO songs as well, this also comes with a fantastic booklet that will also keep you busy, this is a german import , many photos here i have never seen before and some tracks i have never heard before, this is a really nice lavish package and very well done and again i have seen sweet compilations come and go but this is the first box set i have ever seen on the cd format!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is the ultimate collection for any real huge sweet fan of there 1970s heyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as of now it does not get better then this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although most albums by the Sweet have been issued on CD over the years, the band has largely been compiled to death with various single and double disc collections. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but in the case of bands like KISS, Deep Purple, Queen or the Scorpions, it can be an annoyance. There have been some great Sweet compilations over the years, but nothing that would feel totally complete for die hard fans. But Sensational Sweet gets it right and is easily the best Rock Boxset of 2017! There is not one Sweet song left behind and all the UK versions of the albums from Funny How Sweet CoCo Can Be to Level Headed are all here in full sonic glory. Then you get a single disc of the complete singles and B-sides that are not included on any of the albums followed by a live album and a BBC sessions disc. American fans of Sweet might do a double take at the different running order of Desolation Boulevard or Level Headed or even three different versions or Action (Single, Strung Out and Album Versions) but that is okay because the picture painted with this boxset makes it all complete! The packaging, digipak sleeves and booklet are so cool and vivid! I don't think I have seen a boxset produced that has been this spectacular in a very long time. I hope there are plans to release this set on vinyl because I think that would be amazing. And I also hope there are plans in the works for a post Brian Connolly years set in the near future which is not as popular, but still very enjoyable. Sensational Sweet is to be enjoyed not only by Sweet fans, but by glam rock fans, power pop fans, hair metal fans as well as straight up heavy metal fans! This is a must have!

Most people don't realize that a LOT of The Sweet's best-known songs were released as singles. Non-album singles. As in, you can buy all the studio albums from '71 to '77 and not pick up songs like Action or Ballroom Blitz or Fox On the Run or even Little Willy, fer cryin' out loud! The live album in this set is a nice bit of icing on the cake, along with the collection of BBC performances, but The Lost Singles CD? That is the bonus disc that makes this collection indispensable.The price seemed a little steep at first, but considering what you get, it still comes out a bargain!

So glad this was released. Phenomenal Box Set. Great Package and great booklet that comes with it. My only complaint is that if you want all of the songs that Brian Connolly did with the band you must get the expanded edition of Funny Funny How Sweet Co Co Can Be since most of the songs on disc 2 of this expanded edition are not included in the box set (for example the song Mr. McGallagher, etc). I highly recommend that if you like Sweet, you get this!

Very sweet box set Hard Rock glam metal from the 70s highly recommended box set

An absolute necessity for your collection if you love these guys as much as I do. Anything and everything and numerous variations and demos of many tunes. Probably the most comprehensive and greatest box set that I own and that's a bonus considering that the band has been one of my favourites ever since I really started listening to and picking out the music that would stick with me all these years.

(UK) 1976５) Off The Record 1977６) Level Headed (UK) 1978７) The Lost Singles (Non Album Singles A & B Sides Compilation)８) The Rainbow Live In The UK (Live At The Rainbow Theatre London, 1973)９) At The BEEB (The BBC Radio Sessions 1969－1972) の９CD-BOX　バンド創立50周年に向けて出されたBOXで、ヴォーカルのBrianが関わったオリジナルアルバム１から６までを収めているので「Brian Connolly Years」と書かれているところもあります。1975年に「Strung Up」というライヴ＆ベストの2枚組アルバムも出されてますが、このBOXでは割愛。そのアルバムに収録されていた1973年のライヴがフル・ライヴ・コンサート８として収められています。　３、４，６は英国版の曲順で日本版とは異なります。英国版３は70年代ブリティッシュ・ハードロックを聴き込んできた人には良さがわかる好盤で、「ブリティッシュ・ハードロック選」なるものでこの1枚が選ばれていてもおかしくはない名盤だと、個人的には思います。５２ページのカラーブックレットには、歌詞とトラックリストは載ってませんが、多くのレア写真とバイオグラフィー、各アルバムライナーノーツがあり、勿論、全文英語ですが見応えがあります。６のみ歌詞がジャケットに掲載あり。何故かリマスター情報が記されてなく、３と８を既発CDと聴き比べてみましたが違いは判りません。　各アルバムは三面見開きデジパック仕様で、アナログLPでは見開きジャケットだった３，５，６は一応アートワークは再現されていますが、完全オリジナル同様ではなく、おまけに透明プラスチックトレイがその上にベタッと糊付けされています。４に至ってはアナログでは片目がくり抜かれた変形ジャケットだったので、５連眼は活かされず残念な仕様になっています。オリジナル英国仕様で、初出が大半のマニア向け９がセットになったこのBOX、勿論５つ星ですが、「ジャケのここにトレイを貼るかあ～～！」と言う事で星4つにします。

wow was i ever freaked to see a Sweet boxset out!!!...always followed and loved the band...this is a great boxset for the fans of Sweet...yeah it's only the 70's but it's got everything in it with lots of bonus tracks...so if u dig the glam rock band do yourself a favor and get a piece of the ACTION!

BBCセッションの音源はとても貴重です。彼ら自作のB－SIDEの曲を聴くと本当にSWEETは初期から才能あるバンドだなと実感します。何処にも無いSWEETサウンド。これ程驚異的な才能の彼らがとても過小評価されている事が残念でなりません。SWEET以上のバンドは存在しないと言っても良いくらい最高のバンドです。手に入らないと諦めていましたが、新品を購入出来て感激です。
