The Rag Trade: Series 1 & 2 [DVD]

This was first on TV when I was too young to understand any of it, now it is rather dated and I barely got through the first series. The workers and the boss at odds with each other all the time trying to get one over on each other, no wonder this country slid downhill over the following decades when neither side could be trusted. The low spec humour and the depressing nature of the subject fell below what I found to be entertaining.

I bought these DVDs largely out of curiosity, just to see if what made me laugh when was still at junior school (back in the early 1960s) could possibly be funny to me now. Amazingly, it's still hilarious!A pedant might quibble that it's sold as 'Series 1 and 2', whereas it should really be "all of the surviving episodes from Series 1 and 2", as several episodes are missing. (The episodes included on the DVDs aren't in the order of transmission either. See IMDb for full info). However it's still 570 minutes of really good comedy for under a tenner, so I'm still well-satisfied with what I've got.

Another piece of tv history that was just before my time. Nice to see the sublime cast of charactor actors from the 60s in this slightly dated comedy. Still an enjoyable watch due to the cast. Worth watching for the original pre "On the Buses" tv comedy.
