Q: Do you need to put a clear cost on the pelican for the outside since it will not be on a porch/patio with a cover?

We keep ours indoors in a sunroom however if you have a patio that is covered you should be ok. It's worth buying and determining later if you should add a clear coat to protect from wet weather. It's really lovely and is the best price I could find. I saw this at a gift shop in hilton head SC and it was three times the cost. You can't go wrong with this purchase. Hope that helps.

From the top of the Pelican to the longest chime is 30 inches. The string that hangs down from the center of the Pelican to catch the breeze is an additional 13 inches.

What is the hanging material? I have a different one that the strings soon deterioated and broke.

Ours has about a 1/4 inch crack along the back side almost the full length of the pelican. Is this normal?? Just opened box today.
