Is truth stranger than fiction?
One does feel that way when one starts reading this book. As if one is reading a newspaper or some SM site.He drives home the point and also the knife where it matters,to kill.Enough twists in the tale and takes the reader by surprise. Killing scenes are graphic and chilling. No wonder I have read all James Reece books. Unapologetically violent but fun.

Excellent read.
Complete page turner. I read it in a day and a half. James reece is beast. Looking forward to the 2nd season of the terminal list aswell as the Ben Edward's prequel series. I hope this isn't the last time we get to read a James reece book. James and Katie deserve their wedding.

Thrilling
The author creates quite an intricate plot with several (seemingly) independent threads - until they suddenly converge; quite thrilling, but some pages read like a gun show catalog, just without pictures ;-) looking forward to #7 !!!

The Best James Reece Novel Yet
Having been disappointed with the previous novel in the series, In The Blood, I wasn't expecting much from Only The Dead. However I think this is Jack Carrs most developed story yet.He has manged to turn the title character of James Reece into an outdoors, everyday type American version of James Bond. And I found it thoroughly enjoyable. With the usual descriptive use of genuine weaponry, vehicles and equipment to provide some realism to the story. I found myself continually looking up the references. And unlike the previous book where a lot of the references seemed like literal product placements not always fitting the flow of the narrative. In Only The Dead the references seemed more appropriate.Don't get me wrong this story is completely far fetched. It isn't a fictional military story that has some realism due to the authors experience. This is more of a ridiculous James Bondesque, only one man can save the world from an anonymous group of bad guys, type of story with a bit of realism in the description and use of military equipment. But I read fiction for escapism and fun, Only The Dead provided plenty of both.
