Not in focus
The video on all the episodes does not appear to be in focus. It is very obvious looking at opening and closing credits.

Amusing Show
I'm glad I stumbled onto New Girl with my DVR some months back. It was recording the last few minutes in preparation for a show after it. I got the first two seasons for a few bucks each and was hooked. It's a bunch of people living together and a couple of the love will they will they not things and a current romance. They also bring back the roommate from the pilot. I really liked that guy, but the other black roommate Winston is a tragically underused gem. He's often just plain weird and I find myself probably closer to him than anybody else in the show. The show could be summed up by the word quirky. The only thing I'd say is that by the third season some of the little non sequiturs are a little weaker and maybe running a little thing. Sort of like by the end of season 3 of Mission Impossible the fake masks are a predictable. I'd almost suggest binging the first couple seasons, taking a break, then coming back for full effect. It's a pity the sales didn't do well. Apparently you can only get season 4 as a burn to order so the prices will likely never be low enough I'll pick it up. Still, have my DVR set so hope to catch them.

Great Show. Shameless Fox Advertising on Paid Content.
This show, by itself, is worthy of a five star rating. It's witty and extremely fun to watch alone with with a group of friends. The chemistry between the five main characters together and between each possible pair is both dynamic and interesting to see.In regards to the advertising. As far as I can tell from our Amazon Instant Video library, Fox started to test ads in Bones. At first is was ridiculously obvious plugs for Toyota driving between scenes. Then it went to full on ads for their other shows at the start of the stream.Fast forward to today and we have New Girl being bombarded by ads at the beginning and end. I understand this under Hulu's model since the ads are their primary revenue source, but seriously Fox? We pay a premium to have these streaming episodes. We're not freeloaders. I ended up ending our subscription to Bones over this shameless tactic. Our family is a bit torn over supporting the work of these great actors and sticking it to Fox. If anyone is responsible for losses from piracy, it's the crap that Fox pulls with paying customers.

offbeat and fun
I am (pleasantly) surprised that 'New Girl' managed to survive for 7 seasons. While it does show a few sitcom cliches once and a while, for the most part this is a show from a different planet. Although a bit crass at times, the best parts of 'New Girl' tend to shine through in every episode: irreverent humor, good cast chemistry, a touching emotional undercurrent, and a heck of a lot of fun. Great cast, too, led by Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson. It's awesome that the studio has made DVD sets available for all 7 seasons. Get 'em all and binge watch 'til your head hurts!

This Show Will Make You Laugh With Every Episode
Some of my favorite lines from this season - "How often do you groom your cat.", "..uh oh, looks like we have a little ground hog day situation. Six more weeks of Wintuuuh." OMG this show is so hilarious, I could go on and on. I'm a huge Zooey Deschanel fan not only because of the obvious - she's gorgeous, but also because she's a great actress and comedian. I also like the chemistry between the rest of the cast. The only problem I have with this show is the recent addition of Coach. Was this really necessary to keep the show interesting? I think not. Since the character CC seems to be looking for additional employment in addition to modelling , the writers might consider finding her side jobs in the adult entertainment industry - just a thought. I highly recommend this sitcom as it will keep you in stitches.

Great show, but download comes with annoying Fox commercials
Would give this a 5-star rating because I really enjoy the show and this season has an entire episode with Prince that is everything I wanted it to be. The reason I'm dropping a star is because when I pay for a season online, I'm not only buying the privilege of watching on my time, but I'm also buying the ability to not watch commercials. The download includes commercials for other Fox shows at the beginning and end of each episode. They are short enough that it's tough to skip past them on my Roku3 without missing the opening lines of the show, but long and repetitive enough to be really annoying to watch before every episode. If you have enough patience to defer your need for instant gratification of watching right now, I'd recommend waiting for it to come out on Netflix commercial-free.

LAUGH, LAUGH, LAUGH, LAUGH, LAUGH!!!!!
I love this show. From the moment i set my peepers onto the face of Jess back in season one i knew that i was in for the long haul. The show is still as funny as it was back then, if not funnier. Individually, however, Schmidt is hysterical. He is the stand out strong character in the show from a comical perspective. Winston has his quirks, and it has taken three glorious years to find out what they are. Jess and Nick are still together - thank goodness - and early on Cici has finally begun to see the wood for the trees when it comes to Schmidt. And I love Ferguson, by the way!All in all, a truly great tv show and one of the funniest.BFN Greggorio!

Keeps me smiling
This show has continued to capture my interest up to the most recent episode. The thing I love most about this show is how the characters, who are all around the same age as me, are not lawyers or doctors, or some other high profile job--they are bartenders, teachers, basketball player/nanny/assistant/future cop, coach...Winston is the character I most relate to, as he is still not sure where he wants to go in his career, but no one is judging him about it...it's nice to know that all of us newly 30 year olds don't need to have it all figured out with our careers...that it doesn't need to be the primary goal in our lives. There is nothing wrong with being successful with your career, but that is not the only life path, and it's nice to see that presented in an entertaining format.

An excellent third season, but not quite flawless
After brilliant 1st and 2nd seasons, New Girl returns for a 3rd season. In general, it delivers what made the first couple of seasons great, including some truly touching moments between Nick & Jess and the slow to start but rapidly improving Coach (Damon Wayans Jr).I'll start with the good. The 3rd season is usually the relationship season for comedies, and New Girl certainly hits the ground running. Its primary coupling of Nick & Jess are not perfect, and nor should they be with such differing personalities, but it allows for growth in both characters as they navigate their new relationship. It's a well written and acted dynamic from the start, and it's not all plain sailing, but I really enjoyed some of their scenes and the way in which it was played out. It adds some real heart to the show, with some excellent heart-warming moments, without detracting too much from the fact that this is a comedy.Coach's return was a little unexpected for me, there was already a great ensemble, why mess with it? For those who don't know, Coach was one of the original characters from the pilot. Wayans's was already cast in Happy Endings, but with Happy Endings suffering in the ratings, it was expected to be cancelled, leaving Wayans's free to find another role. It didn't get cancelled, and thank goodness because Happy Endings 2nd and 3rd season included some inspired comedy, and New Girl even benefited with the addition of Winston. Eventually, Happy Endings was sadly cancelled, and Coach comes back. At first, even as a big fan of Wayans's from Happy Endings, I didn't get it. Coach was pitched as a competitor to Schmidt, which just didn't work. Both characters suffered, but thankfully it didn't take long to fix. Coach's return to, guess what, coaching was inspired, and his slight change in focus really benefits both him and Schmidt, as well as the show as a whole. By the end of the season, it feels like Coach has always been there! The latter half of season 3 is where it really shines. But for me the first few episodes let it down.To start with, I really did not enjoy Schmidt's downfall at the start. It seemed really out of character, not particularly funny, and just largely unnecessary. It takes the remainder of the third season for him to regain his mojo, and once he does he's back to comedy gold, but the initial storyline was really disappointing. Then there is Winston. It really is a testament to Lamorne Morris's ability as an actor and comic that he has got so much out of character that doesn't really have much to do. I think he's one of the least developed characters, and with so much focus on Nick & Jess, the re-introduction of Coach and Schmidt's all round issues, he's left to fill out episode storylines without getting much development himself. The comic relief Winston provides is necessary to balance out the drama with the other characters, but it's a shame so much of it is just short story arcs or lasts just a single episode. If there's any area I'd like season 4 to develop, it's Winston. There is just too much talent and comedy to ignore. So, why 4 stars for this season. I've perhaps focused too much on the negatives, but if anything, it's to the shows credit that even with these issues, it still shines throughout the majority of the episodes. Particularly impressive is the second half of the season, which really sets the scene nicely for season 4 and providing plenty of laughs along the way.I haven't mentioned Cece yet, because I think she's still side-lined by the plots of the other characters. Her career change is a good move and leads to some funny moments, but like Schmidt I think it takes some time to get into her stride. It's tough to have six main characters and still give each one some meaningful storylines, but there is definitely some potential there and hopefully season 4 will make use of it!A must watch series for any fan of comedy, New Girl continues its solid track record, producing a classic relationship season without losing the fact it's a comedy at heart. Well executed by all involved.
