make sure you hold the power button long enough to turn it on - there is a built in delay. Also make sure you calibrate it before first use as mine was out by a degree - ok after calibration. The digital level really helps if your eyes not so good as they used to be.

This was a gift for my husband, he had wanted one for ages as the beeping noise means u do t have to be looking at the air bubble to know when you are holding it level. It's great , magnetic too the only thing is he has to turn the radio off to hear the beep as it could do with being a little louder but overall he has been very happy with it.

This level got briefly caught in a light rain shower. Quickly retrieved, wiped down, batteries removed, dried overnight in a warm kitchen. Worked just fine. Put away in its dry, waterproof, case for a few weeks. Went to use it: turns on, but the display is nonsense. No other function works. Opened it up. Heavy corrosion inside. Absolutely no moisture protection in design or construction. Basically a bare circuit board sitting on a building site. It is now twice as expensive as when I bought it. Don't touch it with a barge-pole unless its only use is indoors (and be careful with your beer).

It's a good tool , until your using the reference, then it's not asaccurate as I'd like,. Over half a degree difference when turned through 90 °,which is a shame as Stanley usually make very good tools.

Used it straight out of the packaging it didn't take long to set up it feels robust and solid and with the Stanley pedigree should last the rest of the time I need it to the only down side is I am not sure how watertight the battery compartment will be but we'll see!
