More like thick clumpy tone.
I bought this having used the quickshade that came with the Army Painter starter set. I can only assume I misread the description as this was nothing like that and acts more like a varnish than a shading wash.As for the shade effect to call this soft tone is far from the fact it left the mini I tests it on looking dull dark and clumpy. As a miniature painter I am used to having to get used to how a product works so accept the faults this has and have found a use for it on terrain and vehicles, but for use on figures I struggle to any possible realistic application.

A small can of light brown woodstain
This is basically a very small can (7cm x 7cm) of light brown wood stain. It can be used to quickly shade very pale-coloured miniatures, like figures painted white, yellow or very pale sand. The stain takes at least 24 hours to cure and leaves a tough, extremely glossy finish on the figures which looks absolutely horrendous. After the stain has fully cured you will need to use Vallejo matte varnish or Testors Dullcoat to get rid of the gloss. Once the gloss is removed the effect looks a lot better. It's for use when you want to paint a large number of figures quickly, i.e., for a GW army. Very pale Tyranids using a white and bone scheme would benefit from this. It's very messy to use and you would be advised to use it outside or in a very well prepared area. Wood stain splatters are nearly impossible to clean up. It also destroys your brushes, so either use very cheap brushes of something like a cheap sponge cut into segments. The product is hilariously expensive for what you get - it's a very small can of wood stain. You can get the same thing in any hardware store for a fraction of the price.

Permanently sticky miniatures
This has still not dried after 2 weeks. I will have to strip the miniatures and potentially ruin thenm. Followed all the instructions completely. Hardly quicker at painting! Give me a citadel agrax earthshade over this rubbish any day
