Great for standard troops and regiments.
While I wouldn't recommend this for centerpiece miniatures in your collection, this stuff is fantastic for adding shade to your rank and file troops for your tabletop army, I would not however recommend the whole miniature ''dip'' method, but rather using an old brush and applying it over the miniature like a standard wash, Much less waste and less risk of ruining your miniature's details that way.Do make sure you stir it properly as a lot of the thicker elements will be at the bottom of the tin like a syrupy goop.Would recommend for those that was decent results done quick, especially for ''horde'' armies.

Thin woodstain for shading model kits
Thinned down woodstain that can be used to shade model kits. There are 3 different colours of Quickshade, this one, black, is for use with figures that are predominantly blue, purple, grey or silver. For example, I recently used it on a squad of GW Genestealers painted in the original purple and blue colour scheme. You need to paint the base coat on a little brighter than normal, paint the teeth and claws and do any spot shading or drybrushing first. Then apply this stuff and it shades the whole thing. It takes 24 hours to cure and the finished coat is very hard and glossy. At first it looks terrible, but a thin coat of Vallejo matte varnish or Testors Dullcoat will get rid of the gloss and make the figures look a lot better. You have to use this stuff outside as it makes a mess and it's very difficult to clean up. It will destroy your brushes, so use a bit of sponge or something disposable to apply it.I've deducted a star because of the price - it's hilariously expensive for what it is. The tin is really small, measuring 7cm tall and 7cm wide. The price they're charging is a complete rip-off. It's just thinned woodstain, nothing else.

Not what it says on the tin.
I bought this expecting it to be a big tin of the excellent Dark Tone wash from the small bottles. It's really, really not. It is a different colour, different finish (nowhere near as good), and is - as another reviewer pointed out - just thinned down wood stain. Very disappointed.

Model finishing paint
First attempt at painting models, gave a shiny finish just like normal varnish really, Fount the tin a bit hard to open would have preferred better packaging which does not require a flat screwdriver to open. Actual product was ok.

Great product with on-time delivery
Product arrived today, pretty much on schedule which I am happy about. The product did have a large dent in the side of the tin despite being quite well wrapped. I can only assume the dent was from before delivery. I am sure this will not affect the product inside however.

great product
This is a great product to apply to you models after you have finished basic painting. I paint it on with a larger size brush so I get a good coverage and then allow to dry for 24 hours. The brush can be cleaned with white spirit and is then ready to use again. Once dry, the finish is glossy. I then usually glue figures to bases and finish basing before simply spraying with Army Painter matte spray varnish.
