Q: What is the difference between D2 and D3 pants?

D2 and D3 represent slightly different cuts within a given waist and length size, which equate to slightly different body shapes. More specifically, D2 is appropriate for very slim body types, while D3 is appropriate for the more typical body type. The D3 cut is appropriate for me. One time, without realizing that I was doing it, I ordered my waist and length size but with the D2 cut. After one wearing I gave the pants to Goodwill. They were too tight for me. If you're not sure which cut would be appropriate for you I suggest that you buy just one pair of pants. If they're the wrong cut for you I'm reasonably sure that Dockers would take them back and send you pants with the other body cut.

Q: why in the world did they discontinue these awesome 100% cotton , sharp looking dress pants????

'Dress pants' and '100% cotton' sounds like a self-canceling phrase. Dockers retired the 100% cotton because 98% cotton and 2% elastane make the fabric much more color fast and bright,and it keeps the surface of the cotton looking good for a much longer time. They will keep a crease and fabric does not show wear as quickly.

Q: will they shrink in the wash?

I purchased these for my son in his regular size. They fit and continue to fit after washing, so I would say no, they don't shrink.
