Gremlin [DVD]

The plot line is non existent. The subplot is even less non existent. The CGI is worthy of the 90's. The dialogue is lack any drive. By the middle of the film you find you don't really care about what happens to any of the characters since there is no character development but for 2 of the characters - who die within the first 20 minutes of the film and provided the only interesting story in the whol film. A that point you just want the monster to win because the film is such utter nonsense. I'm convinced they were writing this film as they went along because there's no sense of direction to the plot. The directing was non existent. You will see plenty of shots that will leave you puzzled. A monster comes out of a box and kills three people in their own house and their exucse for not calling the police is that they won't be believed, that the police will think they're nuts. It's rank stupidity. Spare yourself

***This movie actually was pretty damn good!The premise: Friends OR families receive a mysterious box as a gift, kind of like (Chain-mail). Little do they know an evil Deadly Creature with “Grim Reaper Duties” appears at certain intervals to kill anyone you love…The budget used to make the movie was money well spent, demonstrated by a well-made film, that includes perfect movie sets and props, passable acting, beautiful cinematography, great use of simple CG effects, and a complete story that has a proper ending, answering (most) questions.There are (no) dry or boring areas in this movie at all…it actually moves along at a good pace and keeps you interested every moment.My personal thoughts: I thought the movie was actually intense, hardcore, creepy, unforgiving and brutal! It’s a different kind of Gremlin movie. The movie actually makes the original Gremlins movie look like sheer child’s play…almost a joke! We still LOVE the original…however, they are NOT messing around in this movie, its serious business! This movie is gruesome, brutal and very bloody. I really think Sci-fi fans will love this movie because it’s put together so well. A very impressive peace of film for a B-Rated movie…it’s really that good and the ending ties it all together.The Facts:1. Running Time 1 hr. 28 min.2. Widescreen HD3. This review contains spoilers.Weird they serve eggs and biscuits for dinner. This is like a twisted version of Pay It Forward. I recognize the dad (Adam) from Jurassic Games. Almost like The Ring in a way.The creature was fairly deadly, but a slap could send it flying. The princess monkey story was pretty sweet. I would have grabbed my celphone to record it for the police. But if it's magickal then that may have backfired. The story of it told by the gypsy was really cool and the graphics were awesome.The ending definitely left it on a cliffhanger.

This movie was very good. But what was that ending! Wow, this movie went where most horror movies of the kind don't, it victimized EVERYBODY and was dead serious about who it killed, it did not hold back, at all. To an outsider, the things that happened looked like a good old-fashioned serial killer that had to be captured, but for us viewers who saw everything that was going on, it was one helluva ride as this thing went from person to person, and poor old Dad, couldn't do a thing about it. The one other thing I will say, too, is that for a plot that involved passing things on to the ones they loved, I didn't see a whole lot of love in their actions considering what the outcome was going to be.

If you are in the mood for a low budget horror movie, this is a good choice. It delivers as promised - scary gremlin, terrified people fleeing scary gremlin, more scary gremlin. Simple concept, well executed, worth the time and $ if your expectation is low budget horror.

I tussled over whether to give this 2 or 3 stars. I concur w/ other folks on here who said the acting was abysmal. It certainly was. The young son should've either been catatonic after witnessing the horrible events he did or a raging, frothing-at-the-mouth lunatic. He was the same stoic character throughout the movie. The mother/daughter crying scene & the investigator (I can't find a name for him, the black guy who talks about dealing with monsters to the son) were the only acting scenes that weren't a train wreck IMO.The concept is good--figured we might have a "Wishmaster" type gorefest on our hands, but it was nothing like that. The main protagonist (the father) was quite a tool, I found myself rooting for him to die I despised him so much. If that was the director's goal then he scored.In short, great concept, the monster was very cool (although I too figured the ending out not too long before it happened), but the acting was atrocious. Yikes! It might be worth a rent & if you're a sadomasochist, go ahead & buy it.

Bored on a late night and decided to watch something on Amazon. Caught me off guard at first when I saw the picture preview. It's not related to the Gremlins movie that most of us are familiar with but it's not too bad. The movie didn't drag on longer than it did and the ending was pretty much what one would expect to happen for these type of horror films.

Cheesy? Yes but good storyline and plot, how hard would it be to give something so destruction to someone you love? Geez I don't even wanna think about it lolCG effects were better than most and it was well paced thru to the end however the ending could have been a little less hokey. That said grab some popcorn and have a watch if you're into campy cheesy horror films like me :)

Grrr ,l hate endings like this? 1hr 20 mins of shear boredom l sat through to that ending (you wont guess ending there were,nt one)l know thats a spoiler ,but l would,nt want anyone else to watch this dribble ,

Cool film

Adam is a complicated husband and father who is gifted a strange box that he initially thinks nothing of. But immediately a series of deaths of close family ensues and Adam realises there is more to the box than it just being a curiosity - it houses a dangerous creature and he must act to rid himself of the box before it kills everyone he loves.This is a monster movie which also focuses on a dysfunctional family and follows the father's transition from completely unlikeable cheat to a somewhat devoted father. There is a bit of gore and lots of digital monster special effects which are really quite good for a budget film. The story, while fast paced and fun, feels underdone in the script and a bit amateurish in execution, and there is a lot of very ordinary acting on display.The reason for the monster's existence is explained as the film progresses so you do get some understanding of its history, even though it's all too convenient and leaves loads of questions unanswered. The film's ending is predictable, but not really disappointing, and the bigger monster size in the closing scenes keeps the fun going.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It had enough tension and suspense to keep me guessing throughout. Never a dull moment and I dare anyone to guess the ending. I am definitely keeping this one in my collection.
