Terrible overpriced fami-clone
I originally got this clone system as an easy way to play NES games on an HD TV with my kids - aside from the Nintendo switch. Unfortunately, I found this one of the worst clones I've ever used; and given the price tag - more than double the normal price of such clones - it's exceeded even my worst expectations! Some of my disappointment is due to my own misunderstanding: I could have sworn that the description included SFC/Super Nintendo games and had a combination of 8 and 16 but games - as well as the ability to add your own ROMs given the SD card slot. I didn't let my own misconception cloud this review, but wanted to point out that this SNES-styled box *can't play SNES games*.Of course, like many clones, this has a handful of popular NES games, and a vast majority of ROM hacks and pallette swaps of mostly terrible quality. Such classic games are included as "Cooey Found Weed" (a Mother hack) are part of the listed games on this "family friendly" "educational" console. The graphics themselves are passed through some kind of smoothing filter that not only destroys the nostalgic pixelation of the retro games, but causes numerous sprite glitches in most games - and looks horrible besides. The games actually have a load time, which I haven't seen even with the plug and play N64 controller 8000-in-one famiclones of yesteryear. I question the inclusion of the SD card at all, as this could just have easily had the games on board if they didn't plan to make them user-loadable.On the hardware side the switches or power and reset on the SNES shell are both functional -though they are both backwards and need to be pulled DOWN to use - and the controllers habe the weight of a piece of paper and feel about as satisfying to play with; having squishy buttons and a loose D-Pad (and repeat A and B turbo buttons taking the place of the X Y L and R). The cords are around 5' long, so youre stuck craning your neck up if your TV is higher than 4' off the ground - and extensions are non existent. This was fun for maybe 10 minutes, most of which was spent laughing at how bad it was. For the $60 price tag, you're better off getting a secondhand NES or SNES mini than wasting your money here - assuming its even listed once the big N comes across it.
