Nice quality wool sock.
Nice quality wool sock. My new favorite. The price is reasonable. They are a medium weight hiking sock suitable for 3 seasons. They stay up well. Very soft and comfortable. And they look nice. I bought both the quarter sock and the crew sock.I bought a 3 pack of the quarter socks in Taupe and those are great for my ankle height boots. They extend about three inches above my ankle. They end right about at the top of my heavy over-the-ankle boots.I also bought a 3 pack of the crew length socks in Olive. Those are great for use with my heavy over-the-ankle hiking boots. They extend up to mid-calf on me, a 6'0" tall guy. They seem to stay up well and they are very comfortable on my 17" circumference calf muscles where some socks have been uncomfortably tight. The quarter socks would look fine with high top sneakers and shorts. The crew socks would look fine with jeans or casual wear and a pair of shoes or boots.I've tossed all my cotton and synthetic socks and replaced them with some form of wool for the moment. I want to see how wool handles sweat and wear as well as stink in day to day life.Edit 3/21/2017: I was happy enough with my initial order of these crew length wool socks that I went back and ordered a second set of three in the taupe color and I ordered a set of three of the low cut length in olive green. These will be my hiking socks for spring / summer / fall. I plan to use them daily also to see how wool is in warm weather.

Best value in its class
I just received my new socks today and have to give them a try so I put them on word into the gym in my running shoes. All I can say is wow!these socks really feel great. they feel stable, cool, and they do not move from where you put them.I will wear them on a hike tomorrow and add another review.8/20 Update:I took the socks out for a true test today and all I can say is WOW!What an amazing feeling. I wanted to do a just comparison, so I wore the same show as I did last week but with a different pair of socks. With the other pair of socks I felt pressure along the outer part of my ankle for the entire 8 miles of walking,With these JB's I felt NO pressure. It felt so comfortable I am having 2nd thoughts about using a true hiking shoes. I wore my old Asics Nimbus 12 running shoe and these socks have given them a whole new place on my shoe rack. I am new to trail walking, and hiking, so I might be off base here, but these JB's have proven you don't have to break the bank for a good pair of outdoor/trail running/hiking socks.I hope JB Fields will stand behind the product as they stated in the warranty. As a backup I bought a pair of Darn Tough, so I will be very curious to see how they compare to the JB's. I will get a chance to put them to the test again when I get to the Grand Canyon.I would strongly recommend these socks based on my experience wearing them.

Decided to get up-to-date with modern shoes and socks for hiking.
Decided to get up-to-date with modern shoes and socks for hiking. Been my favorite exercise for most of my life. From roaming our small New England coastal town and countryside as a teenager to hillwalking in Scotland - to simple daily exercise as an old geezer. Solved my shoe questions by switching to the newest Merrells constructed on lasts configured for North America. Decided to walk away (har!) from the old days of wraparound fat socks - often with a thin liner sock if heavy backpacking - when, face it, cushioning should only be needed under your soles for 99% of hiking. Been wearing these now for over a month of my daily walks. Figured out appropriate tension for re-lacing my shoes without unneeded and excess material over my instep. And these J.B.FIELDS work like a champ. Bought more. I have 12 pair. Along with switching between the 2 pair of Merrell Moabs I now have - I find I can't even wear my older style socks and hiking shoes when mowing our front meadow. Just not as comfortable as this new combination.4 months later: Everything good has only gotten better. Repeated washing, 3+ Miles/day, 7 days/week, the socks have only become softer, smoother. I cold-water wash, hang to air dry. Look like they'll last me a good long while.

Tight socks
Socks are high quality. Looking for socks to keep my diabetic feet warm at night. Found these high quality ones to be restrictive and uncomfortably tight on my swelling feet. I hope to find high quality wool socks that are targeted to my situation.

comfortable, well made, sized to fit
I've had past problems with merino wool socks coming apart at the seams, particularly in the big toe area and on the inside of my heal. That issue has not come up with these socks. They are somewhat light for a midweight sock but that's just perfect for me. I layer with a base sock in the winter anyway. I am retired now but still make a serious effort to get my 10K steps in daily usually in hiking boots...lately it's been close 5 miles or so. My boots are a size 12 and I take a 13 in my street and gym shoes. I picked the XL size and it is a very good fit. I am very pleased with the comfort these socks provide. These quickly became my go-to socks. I'll be repeating my buy soon.

Three Pairs Replaced All My Socks
I live in the Pacific Northwest, and these are perfect for this environment. They keep my feet comfortable in most of the temperature range here (30F-80F.) Cooling effect in heat, and warming in cold. The wool is great for keeping feet and shoes dry, resulting in reduced odor and fungal issues.I chose this set of socks for the mid-weight, and for the availability of the solid black color, so I can wear them to work where I am indoors, and on my feet all day long. They are my everyday socks. They are comfortable, and the quality is good, and excellent for the price. If you have never used wool socks, or had found them to be too itchy, these would be a great set to help you love wool. I have somewhat sensitive skin, and have owned itchy wool socks, but these don't cause me any itching. Skin sensitivity is relative, so your mileage may vary. Wear one pair for two or three days, wash, air-dry, rotate, and three pairs will keep you going all week. At a third of the price of many other socks, these make a good gamble. If you are travelling, two pairs could keep you going indefinitely.
