Maclocks Lock Security Bracket for Mac Pro - Black

Promising but BEWARE!
I believe Apple really messed up when they didn't consider physical security for their most expensive workstation. This product looked like a really promising product and the video on their website showing how it fits together will lead you to believe that it is super simple and you'll be installed in 2 minutes. Well you won't.If security is your number one requirement then this product will probably work for you.The reasons I don't like this product are:1. It leaves permanent marks on your Mac Pros casing. Most marks will be internal so you may not care but it will damage the shiny anodised surface. It also marks the external edges around the port cut-out. You MAY not mind this (as it is the back of the machine).2. It damages the rubber seal inside the Mac Pros casing that surrounds the port cut-out.3. It's not quick or easy to install.4. You actually have to apply considerable force to insert the plates. I gave up installing it when I couldn't apply enough pressure with bare hands. If I wanted it enough it would have worked if I used a pair of pliers to pull it together the last 5mm. Personally I thought that was a step too far and was a sign that it's not working as promised. After 15 minutes of installation it took another 10 minutes to remove. To be fair I could have installed/removed it faster but I was being careful to minimise the damage to my expensive workstation. I would only consider this if it was to install a Mac Pro in a place where it was over exposed (public places). Otherwise, make sure your insurance is good, take backups, and encrypt your drives.

Functional but imprecise, will wear the inner rubber seal of the Mac Pro.
I agree with most of the points on the previous review, but found I could apply enough force to install it with my bare hands. It requires you to squeeze the two halves of the plate inside the casing on either side before inserting the power lead then closing the two plates around it - this is where the finish is a little imprecise, the two plates are difficult to make meet exactly, and you feel you're forcing them against the materials of the Mac Pro.I'm disappointed that it works by forcing itself across the rubber seals inside the casing, which will inevitably damage them. However it looks to be an effective lock, although doesn't feel particularly solid when closed - the lock itself is able to be wiggled around considerably. One nice touch not in the photo is an extra wee clip to run cables through (e.g. for keyboard and mouse) which also secures and tidies them.As Apple have now released a simpler lock adaptor of their own (though without the actual lock) I wouldn't recommend this one, though by the time you've bought Apple's adaptor and then a separate compatible lock it might prove cheaper.

Avoid. Buy the Apple one instead.
This lock scratches the inside of your new Mac Pro. Avoid.
